Should be a great action packed full day of exploring/off-roading 65+ miles with some stunning views & interesting sites as we travel more than 5k+ feet from the desert up into the Sequoia NF with the Sierra's as the backdrop. All the info is at:
http://www.sccxterra.com/xcursion50.html

The meet time is a little earlier then normal but kind of needed if we're going to cover all that ground. Since it's a 3-day presidents day weekend you always have the option of camping at places like Red Rock St Park (close to Jawbone) on Saturday night or somewhere else such as the Lake Isabella area on Sunday night at trails end.

If you're planning on going, want to xvoy, camp, have questions, etc. please post up here or at:

Volunteers needed at Wildomar!
There is an urgent need for volunteer help at the Wildomar OHV Area on the weekends for the next few months, commencing in February. For those of you that don't know, the Wildomar OHV Area is a little known off-road recreation area in the mountains just to the south of Lake Elsinore. It is in the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest.

The weather is looking really nice ~ 70 degrees for the weekend but we likely change the trail itinerary since the latest info says the snow level is ~ 6k and the second trail…Piute Mt Rd. trial goes to 8k+. The going on snowy tails can be really slow, daylight time is short, so we would be better severed to go back to that one in drier conditions considering the distances.

Instead we could go to near by Last Chance Canyon first, then Opal Cyn and finally Jawbone Cyn part way on the last leg. These are all fun very scenic trails with mines and stuff to explore with some optional rock challenges for those that want them (bypasses and the high road is available for those that want to skip that). For reference all these trails are listed in the big Backcountry Adventures Southern California book by Massey & Wilson

Either way should be a blast laugh don't forget to remove the stock step rails, mud flaps if needed and review the safety page:
