It's called "effort" and I am going to have I'm thinking I have to carry a bottle of Meguiar's Quik Detail with me at all times. And wipe it down every night. I'm gonna have buff arms! WOOOHOO!!!!

You might also try one of those "California Duster" brushes. They lift pollen and light dust, but don't expect miracles. Good to use before the quick detailer spray.

dave and Xtoy - anything helps

I hear ya MidnightX, Meguiar's Quik Detail is awesome with a capital A baby!!! There is a lady who owns a black X - I am sorry..."super" black X - in my apt. complex and I swear that she washes it every single day. It always looks shiny and new! One day I was walking my dog, and I saw a guy who looked my me so I walked over to say "hi", but alas...it was only my reflection in her rear hatch! That is how good her X looks!

I have to agree.....the SuperBlack X does look pretty sharp when they're cleaned up. Just saw one a couple of hours ago. But let's give the Alpine Green X's a little respect too. Just washed mine a few hours ago and I had to hit the streets to show it off.

I agree Midnight. After a coat of Meguiar's Scratch-X to clean up the boo boo's from our last HXOC Xcursion and a coat of wax, I started using the Quick Detailer spray in between washes. It makes my Super Black look great as well!

Well I went through winter basically washing my car once a week (road salt makes me cringe). Since it hasn't snowed in weeks, I am not the proud owner of a mud-covered truck from my last trip up-north. Even dirty, she's beautiful - ain't that always true anyway

I hear ya, Middie (that's what I used to call my cat)...That QD stuff rocks...Wiping down every night is the way to go...I use a wet cloth and a towel...Takes me about half an hour...Then I pull the QD...Unfortunately, every time I touch my truck, it rains...

These posts remind me again that my favorite color to look at is the Super Black Xterra, but my favorite color to own is the Silver Ice. I have neither the time nor motiviation to keep black looking good. My previous vehicle was a black `97 Dakota 4x4, so I have some experience to back up my opinion :-)

Green is another nice color...:-) but it needs love, too. An excellent looking truck, especially when it's freshly waxed.

my x is black and i too just gave it it's first coat of wax on the weekend and it looked marvelous. funny thing i noticed though with my stock rims (silver) - they always look clean and shiny (except with a good coating of mud) and they never look like they need a wash but when i wash them, man the black brake dust and dirt that comes off them amazes me and makes me think, if the whole truck was painted this colour...

Hey Midnight, you should get one of those California Car brushes. They work great to keep the dust off and it only takes a couple of minutes in the morning before work

Black does look great but you must be extremely meticulous, because if you dont within a year black will show every knick, scratch and swirl under the sun..

I have owned black and dark green cars as well as my new black X. It is possible to keep dark colors looking good for years just make sure you have a garage and you keep up the maintenance on the paint. This means washing waxing and avoiding brush that will scratch the sides of you vehicle. Just make sure the area where you are offroading is not full of bushes. or heck if a bush is in your way run over it rather than try to squeek by. Calm down I only do this in the desert near urban areas not out in the pristine wilderness so chill.
