How the heck do ya get to the 6th spark plug on the 2000SE? Maybe I'm just a fat bastard, but I can't seem to get in there to get it out.

Time for spark plugs? The originals are good for 100k miles.

Dude, I replace 5 out of 6 so far(same problem) and restored about 20 extra miles per tank. I only have 38K but with the price of gas these days, the plugs will pay for themselves in one month!

scoot

PS, get a blanket and lay on you engine to get in the right position. I have heard that it works on a pathy so you should have no problem. I will be testing this theory today.

Even laying on a 'padded' surface on top of the cool engine, that last spark plug is a BeeATCH! Getting the angle lined up to remove/install the plug isn't fun. Geez, just FINDING the plug to get the wrench on it is hard enough.

The first time I changed the 6th plug on the VG33 engine, I used a compact mirror to see where the plug was.

Oh yeah, I think the recommended [non-platinum] plugs are NGK BKR5ES.

All you guys that found it are ahead of me. I know it's down by the firewall somewhere, but...???

I think I'll let someone else deal with it when it's time.

Spark Plug thread
Click the link for a ride in the Way Back Machine to a similar thread 3-06-01, where we found the answer on E-bay. D_mn E-bay's handy.

I remember that. Nissan has a special tool to get at that plug, though the right combination of extensions and u-joints works if I recall from others' experience.

Thats how I did it on my Pathfinder, two u joints and somebody to hold them while you crank the ratchet.
I saw a craftsman part that was a 6in extension but the whole extension flexed a little bit. It would be perfect for the 6th plug on an Xterra.
