this months four wheeler magazine has much information on off road tires and tire pressure. very informative.

One of the articles points out at snow sticks to an all terrain tire, making it grip less, while on the other hand the mud tire cleaned it self of snow and performed better.

I was under the impression that snow grips snow and that if the tire is snow packed you will have better traction.

Does it depend on the snow ?

I've never driven in snow but from what I've read on the board I thinkthis is how it is.

1. Hardpacked road snow- Snow needs to stick to snow so you won't spin.

2. Offroad drift snow- Tires need to be able to dig in and pull through the snow.

I hope this is right.
