While wandering around the home depot, curious if anyone has ever made a light bar using the pedrilled angle iron that is at the home depot? I so i would like to ask if it was difficult and would you share your design?

Dude... let me be the first to fill you in on a secret... now don't tell anybody else about this... it's just between you and me... if you look up in the right hand corner, you'll see the word "search"... left click on that... in the spot to the right of search words, type in "light bar"... in search forum, scroll down to "stereo, communications, and electrical"... then click "search" at the bottom... there, you will find all your answers... but remember, this is our little secret!

Yes. Lots of them, thats why they were trying to tell you to do search.

Anyhow - yep, people made lightbars, there is also aftermarket lightbar from 4x4parts, and you also can use your gear basket as mounting point and safe yourself some money

But it was funny. I didn't consider it a waste of time.

I wasn't trying to be an ass... just a little bored and maybe a little sarcastic... hell, I think I was nicer than most, and not just saying "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!!"... but anyway... maybe this will help: a pic of RIXterra's light bar... and here's a few pics of PHAT\'s bar... you could probably e-mail him, I think he's got more pics of the process... hope this helps a little more... if you'd like, I could come over and build it for you, too... j/k don't get mad!!!

There are no hard feelings and i had looked through the post where both of those pics can be found. I was looking for something a little more detailed, and when i saw the angle irons in Home Depot it inspred me and thought it could help people out.

Actually I'm just as sarcastic and caustic in person regardless of who I'm dealing with, the difference is that face to face you can read body language and not take everything so literally.

Yesterday someone asked me where Main street was. I told them to go search a map.

just use 1" square aluminum measured to fit inside your gear basket, then use huge bolts to go through the bar and through the bottom of gear basket use plenty of washers to adjust the height of your lights so they shine over the gear basket, also i mounted mine to the back end of the basket and have had them there almost 2 years now hitting branches and what not and it is still stable.

If your lights are big and heavy watch out using Aluminum angle stock (the 90 degree bend stuff). I made mine out of that and the lights jiggled too much, had to go with steel. A box section might be stiff enough. I'm using IPF 900 lights. With the steel bar, it's rock soild.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be as much fun!
