The cruise on my 2001 X has not been working lately.

I turn the cruise "ON" and the cruise light comes on, but when I try to set at speed, the set light will not come on and the cruise control will not set speed.

I have taken it to multiple Dealerships with little to no information given to me. The first didn't even try to work on it saying that it was an electrical malfunction. The second did the same thing but offered me a ~$100 In-Depth Wiring Inspection(or something) which I declined.

I have checked the fuses and relays and haven't found anything pertaining to the cruise that has been burnt out.

Any thoughts on this issue? Feel free to ask questions. My explanation probably wasn't too informative.

Cyclemut would be the guy to ask. My question to him would is if it possible you could have lost the sensor? This sounds like it has nothing to read to set the speed to. Everything works, but it can't set the speed to zero!

Just a thought...

It could be the wire itself grab an multimeter and get to work on checking the wires for grounds or shorts as well.

I had the same issue and found that my problem was the plastic button on the brake pedal was broken. It is the cruise cut off switch that turns the cruise off when you apply the brakes. There are 2 buttons one for the brake light and one for the cruise control. A $3.00 part at the dealer. Easy fix.

"Bring out your dead! Bring out your dead!"

I appreciate you trying to help the guy, but really? Do think you may be a bit late to the dance on this one?

Well, I'd like if you could describe the plastic button or a pic of it.
I've found a gray plastic button on the floor and my CC does not set the speed while driving....of course over 25 mph...
