I want to put a brush/grill bar on my 2001 Xterra XE 4x4. I guess protection is one, but I havent gone off-road yet but exoect I will do some mild off road driving in the future. I like the appearence and rugged looks the bars add to the vehicle as well.
Any suggestions? At this time i would like to avoid upgrading suspesnions or anything like that. But am not adverse to spending the money if need be.
Most people who offroad don't like the Waag(and a few others with similar design) type brush guards. The lower mounting points severly limit approach angle on the front end. They are also easily damaged. I recommend a solid option such as an ARB of TJM.

Go with the ARB. Or if you want, you can get the WAAG and we'll run you through WAAG Eater in Shamokin. Hint- We call it WAAG Eater for a reason. (Granted, we almost changed it to Frontier Eater too.)
