I would like to have a better jack with me out on the trails. I don't want it taking up a whole lot of room so I would like it to stow nicely too.

I've seem some of the Big Mother Jacks people carry around on the roof rack etc. But I'm hoping never to need one of that caliber. But I feel the stock jack is only up to changing a tire in my driveway.

Ideas?

Hi-Lift doesn't help you much without a good place to affix it anyway. I know quite a few people that just use the stock jack if they get in a pinch and it works for them.

Myself, I am too chicken to get into anything hairy enough to warrant a hi-lift jack. laugh

A good bottle jack works in most situations that you would need a jack for but not a high-lift. You can pick up an 8000 lb one for less than $29 from Wal-Mart or any parts store. I do agree that the factory screw type jack sucks major ass.

I've got my mechanical bottle jack from my old 4runner, as well as a 2" thick jack board in my basket.
I rented a Navigator a little while back and its siccor jack looked beefy with a higher rise, if lucky, it might fit the stock location. Have to stop by a junkyard one of these days.
