What side of the fuse is "hot" on our Xterras? Or are they all different? I want to put a fuse tap on to power a scanner. Also, does anyone know of a ground on the passenger side? All the screws and metal parts seem attached to plastic. Thanks.

You will need a meter to find out for sure. Pull the fuse out, also find a good ground. Test both sides of the fuse socket. you might want to make sure it has power when you want it to have power.

Usually left side has power, but you'll need a tester as mentioned, same for the ground.

Do 2006's have spare fuse slots that are powered ? (2000's have 2)
