Um, I paid $22,300 for a brand new one in October - sounds high for used - I guess it would depend on exactly what the mods are, and exactly how much abuse the truck has seen (the fact that it is modded more than likely means it was really used.

Read a good site like http://www.carbuyingtips.com for some excellent tips. Search http://www.autotrader.com for ideas on prices of other used Xterras.

I paid 2k more for a brand new 2003. Of course it wasn't SC but it was an auto. Seems high to me.

btw its from a private owner...i looked on the kelly blue book site and listed all it has and "good" condition and it says $22,350..i figure with the 4k in mods it has to be worth 22.5. but look guys im getting sick of waiting for a deal to come along..i dont have a car since i sold my camaro and ive been using my grandmas car to get to work..but she needs it a lot too. i was even looking at XE's but no one will lower their prices(people want 19k for XE's w 30k miles and 4x4s)

I would like to know who you found in Denver with 4K worth of mods on their Xterra that RMXC doesn't know about.

Post some pics.

Re: what you think? - 29/06/03 12:25 AM

I see a $75 air filter, a rice-boy shifter knob and rice-boy "oops, my foot slipped of the bling-bling" pedals. Not $2k worth of mods.

I ran it through KBB from a private seller, and it came up $20,460.

BTW, when you screw up a post, you can 'Edit' it, and then 'delete' it.

like i said though, he listed his mods to me but i cant remember most of them..some engine and drivetrain mods..one of those clear wind deflectors(Thor something)..i would just sell the cheapo shift knob and pedals on ebay or something.

For comparison sake: We bought our '02 SC/SE - Automatic / 17" wheels and all the toys / 9800 miles / Factory MSO vehicle for $22,700 2 months ago. A new '03 with the same options stickers at just a hair under $30,000.

Forget Kelly, NADA, and the rest. The used market is very soft with the attractive new car financing which created a glut in the used market.

I'll agree with those who advise you to buy it if you like it. A couple hundred bucks either way makes little difference even a month down the road. 6 months from now you'll have a hard time remembering just what you paid for it anyway.

Re: what you think? - 29/06/03 03:39 PM

You really should be able to get a decent rate used. Dealerships can be convinced to give you under 4% for 60 months....and private individual through eloan or peoplefirst will run you about 4.49% for 60. Low mileage used cars can still be a great purchase and save you a few thousand. I say if you think its a good deal you will be happy....so go buy it.

Offer $19K. Then allow negotiations to take you up to $20K. Stay there - make up a story why you can't go over the 20 mark...

Then be ready to walk. Always be ready to walk. You'll get your deal that way. Don't fall in love with a vehicle before you buy it and let that affect your deal. There are way too many vehicles out there for sale.
