Farewell....

Farewell.... - 11/02/08 03:48 PM

The time has come to bid my Xterra farewell. It's been good to me and has been a fun truck. The wife and I decided it was time to trade up. At first I was looking at another Xterra, then Pathfinders, then Frontiers. We decided on a 2008 Trailblazer SS. I've kind of gone to the other end of the SUV spectrum from the Xterra.

I'll be around, mostly lurking as I have in the past, waiting for comical POTM/POCB discussions to pop up.

Well, seeing how I had my Xterra in 4Lo all of about 10 times in 4 1/2 years of ownership I figured it's overkill. I'd rather have the 390hp LS2 and AWD then my old slow and clunky Xterra... wait, isn't that slow and clunky what makes an Xterra an Xterra???

Cut him some slack - he admits he bought the wrong truck the first time. Nothing wrong with the truck - just the buyer selected poorly. smile

Best wishes with your sports truck [Wave]

Hope you got the extended warranty. Couldn't believe how may problems my chevy had. From 0-40k 0 problems but from 40k-60 (when i finally unloaded it) Well lets put it this way, with a $100 deductible i spent about $1200.

So far so good... It's a 2008 with the 100k drivetrain warranty. We also bought a 100k/72 month bumper-bumped extended warranty. My wife also has a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. No problems other than excessive rotor problems and one CV boot.

Same thing happened with my Xterra. 0-84k had no problems. At 84k, both head gaskets developed leaks, and the throttle body had a coolant leak. This was with regular maintenance. On a cold day driving home I started smelling anti-freeze, got home to and then found a puddle of anti-freeze on the garage floor. I said "no big deal, my extended warranty is 100k." Then I checked my paper work... 60k warranty.

Overall, I like the new truck. I miss the Xterra, and maybe I'll buy another one in a few years as an everyday truck... (Gen 1 though.)
