Tried to pick as many "one foot in the grave" codgers as possible. Going for quantity, not long shots laugh

And that looks like it's working really well for you. [Finger]

I hope you're sticking to that game plan now that there's a few bucks on the line.

Pox on the house of anyone that takes names off of my undead list to make their own list for the next round too! laugh

I agree.

It was an interesting diversion when it was free.

Not enough fun to spend $20.
Rather put three gallons of gas in my truck. laugh

Have fun.

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 23/12/05 09:15 AM

if this is true then i will send DR his money back and we will do a free Dead pool again.

the only reason i was collecting a pool was because everyone said they wanted to.

Go ahead and send you lists to
todrick at gmail dot com

if we dont get mor epeople paying i will refund DR his money and we will go freebie....

All entries must still be in by the time the ball drops in times square

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 23/12/05 07:02 PM

heres what i am thinking... you pay your eligible for a prize... you dont, your not.

if the highest paying player is #4 they win the 1st place share of the pool.

doe shtis work for everyone?
Posted by: sdx

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 23/12/05 07:30 PM

hey i am all cool with it, the ones that pay get the money the ones that don't... can brag about winning nothing! laugh

everything will work on time though.. send your lists.

I am editing the first post to highlight that its free

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 25/12/05 08:54 PM

Can we send our list in, and then later send in money?

(Obviously there would have to be a deadline, so some joker wouldn't wait until September to send money in, when they know they are winning)
Posted by: Todrick

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 27/12/05 02:47 PM

I'm fine with that.

you have to send in your money before any of your guys die... that seems fair.

I often get confused about exactly which kind of pussy you are.

I'll remember from now on, that no matter what kind of pussy you appear to be, you are NOT one that needs a gimme.

Lou Rawls, the velvet-voiced singer who started as a church choir boy and went on to sell more than 40 million albums has died, his publicist said. He won three Grammy Awards in a career that spanned nearly five decades and a range of genres. He was 72.

just to state again...

no one who enters after sharon had his stroke may pick him... i have not gone through all the lists but if you did pick him after his stroke please send me another pick.

BTW....

I picked lou rawls... but seeing as i was the only one and the site is not up.... i will mnot take the points and will make another pick.

but when i loose, im gonna cling to that little fact so i dont feel so bad smile

Whoa there Todrick... I picked Lou Rawls too. (#14 on my list) I submitted my list on 1/5/06, (One Day before he died.) Do I need to pick again? That would be a bummer. I wanted some pointage!!!

Oh, and is it still too late to join the $$$$ league? wink

Yeah, I know. Thus the winky smiley. But if I'm forced to choose a Lou Rawls replacement, I might be inclined to put some money in on it.

Come on Todrick... don't you want to go live with you and me tied for first place?

this is taking longer than i expected to enter everyones list... please bare with me i hope to have the site up tonight
Posted by: Todrick

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 10/01/06 10:07 AM

The site is live

http://four50one.net/XDP06/

Andre the Giant starts off with a comanding lead due to his prophetic pick of Lou Rawls.

Andre Sent in his list on the 5th, Rals died on the 6th.

Look over your lists and let me know if anything looks wrong... i built the this new site from the ground up so there may be some coding glitches. BUT it is built to be reused nextyear... which will save a ton of time and allow me to have the site up a bit earlier in the year.
Posted by: Todrick

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 10/01/06 10:09 AM

also... please, if you get bored, send me info about some of the celebs... for their bio pages... there is a lot of info to gather there and I'd hate a repeat of last year(some never got info)

also notice there are a coule new bonuses and the points values of some have changed
Posted by: Mobycat

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 10/01/06 10:54 AM

I know this may be a bit much, but is there any way we can have a list on the front page of the celebrities and who all picked that one?

(As opposed to having to check each persons individually?)
Posted by: Todrick

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 10/01/06 11:06 AM

i could but....

a list of 158 celebrities with a list of who picked them is a bit much... let me see if i can come up with another solution
Posted by: Origami Gangsta

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 10/01/06 11:14 AM

That would be great.

I checked each one individually. I'm shocked that I'm the only one who picked John Paul Stevens. The dude is like 498 years old.
Posted by: Todrick

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 10/01/06 11:16 AM

well there is now a link to the list, but it may take some time to create the code that will show who picked who...

at least for now you can see all the picks

his age makes him worth less points... but since you are the only one who picked him he is now worth quite a bit...

much like my Sir Edmund Hillary and Ray Bradbury picks

I think I'm the only one who picked Les Paul. He could be worth some big points - he's close to the oldest (Al Lewis has him beat, I know).

Born June 9, 1915. Anyone other than Al Lewis older?
Posted by: Todrick

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 10/01/06 03:09 PM

once i get all the ages in the db then i can do some cool things, like "sort by age"

until then its a bit of work to look these guys up

Lady Bird Johnson is older than Gerald Ford.

Born December 22, 1912. Ford was born July 14 1913.

Quite a few people picked her.

Re: XOC Dead Pool MMVI - 12/01/06 09:02 AM

My comments on some of those picked by the group:

Courtney Love and Ted Kennedy - DIE already!
Ruben Studdard - C'mon, this is a CELEBRITY dead pool.....not the I'M A FAT BASTARD AND I DROPPED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH dead pool
Hugh Hefner - will definitely die smiling
Nancy Reagan - Ask Jeanne Dixon if she's gonna die
Stephen Hawking - that'll save someone the job of wiping up drool
Muhammed Ali - Float like a butterfly, die like a butterfly hitting the windshield.
Ringo Starr - 2 down, 2 to go.
Paul Harvey - Goooood day!
Danny Bonaduce - My pick for the jackass bonus points
Hillary Clinton - I hope whoever picked her wins!
Paris Hilton - possibly more temptation than your average mortician can withstand.
Jimmy Carter - buried in a peanut shaped casket
Ariel Sharon - See Stephen Hawking

I don't recall that.

But that's really more to do with the fact that

a) "Tookie" was on Death Row, with a pre-determined date of death.
b) Depending on when the circus finished, so would Saddam.

Who was picked this year that is on Death Row?

He isnt on death row yet but Saddam was picked. I dont think he should be allowed since we know he is gonna die

saddam is not on death row... the rules are very clear i think.

he was also a valid and taken pick last year... as was osama.

I picked Sadam, I don't see why that isn't a valid pic! He hasn't even been sentenced yet, plus with an appeal it's highly unlikely he will die this year. I picked him on the offchance that someone blew him up or murdered him in court! smile

Dog From 'Frazier' Dies At LA Home

POSTED: 3:06 pm PDT June 26, 2006

NEW YORK -- The dog that drove Frasier crazy has died.

Eddie was played on the television series by a Jack Russell terrier named Moose. His trainer tells People magazine that Moose was 16 years old when he died at her home in Los Angeles.

He had been retired for the last six years of his life.

Moose also starred in the movie "My Dog Skip" as the older Skip.

celebs are back in... except for a couple of mine...

still need to link them to the players and also compile a list of the dead.... if anyoen would be so kind as to do that part for me I'd be greatful:

Name
Date of Birth
date of death
Age at death
Why They are Famous
Cause of Death

for each... that would freakin rock....

should have this all sorted out in the next couple days

By the way... here's the list I sent to Todrick at the beginning of the year, with dead people highlighted.

Paul Harvey

Gerald Ford (DEAD) - 27 + 10 for december +25 if he's the last points. (62 total)
Mickey Rooney
Jerry Lewis
Lady Bird Johnson
Jack Palance (DEAD Age 87 birthname Vladimir Palahniuk. 32 pts and possibly two or three's a crowd and maybe a Older than dirt bonus as well.)
Walter Cronkite
Wilford Brimley
Ozzy Osborne

Tony Bennett
Fidel Castro
Jack Klugman
Lou Rawls (DEAD 73, Black singer 47 pts + first to die 25pts +solo artist 50 pts=122)

Fats Domino
James Brown (DEAD) 47 points ( +50 if I was the only one) - 98 points possibly.
Lady Bird Johnson

Richard Attenborough
Robert Altman (DEAD) 89 Point - 39+50 bonus (I think I'm the only one who picked him)
Les Paul

Edit to add - make that 259 - 10 point december bonuses for James Brown and Gerald Ford.
