New Transformers Movie - 16/05/06 12:20 PM

I just got an email from a friend of mine that said there is going to be a new Transformers movie that comes out in 2007. It's not a cartoon either, but based on reality. Here is a sample of the CGI test:

Re: New Transformers Movie - 16/05/06 12:50 PM

I've been tracking this for a few months now...

Michael Bay (The Rock, Armageddon, Bad Boys, etc) is behind it - so that means alot of gratuituos explosions and borderline believability in the plot.

Michael Clark Duncan and Bernie Mac are confirmed for roles in this film. Also all the old Voice ACtors will be auditioned.

Re: New Transformers Movie - 16/05/06 02:23 PM

Just saw this on the site...

Quote:
This is the personal work of JJ of 3dblasphemy , and has nothing to do with the transformer movie. This was based of the cartoon generation 1 series. Sorry for any inconvience. But just imagine what the movie could be like.

Re: New Transformers Movie - 16/05/06 04:27 PM

I'm very skeptical about the movie... I have a feeling it's going to be based off the newer crap that they label "Transformers". If Prime looks similar to that video clip, then awesome. But I have a feeling they're going to try to go all high tech like the new Armada crap. Keep it old school! Nothing past the original was any good...

so, the little preview from www.transformersmovie.com is not in the movie according to Michael Bays's blog:

BTW, for those of you asking:

1- None of the Mars story, launch footage, and rover footage is going to be in the movie.

2.- Yes, Bay did shoot the rover footage.

There are rumors that this could be a 2.5 hour epic.

Also they released some action still shots from the movie.

A twenty years gone toy gets its own movie directed by the guy that brought you "Armageddon" and "Pearl Harbor."

Tell me again why this movie won't suck the sweat off of a dead man's balls?

Two movies that came out a long time ago, kind of easy to judge those but, could be a little difficult to judge a movie that is 3 months away from coming to the screen. I never saw Armageddon, does Bruce Willis have to be in every movie? Pearl Harbor-the beginning was pretty cool, good effects. I heard it was all mushy love story crap after the attack. Am I saying that both of these movies sucked? Nope, I never saw them nor have I seen Transformers but the trailers look like there's going to be some good CGI.
So I guess I'll have to do this-
The Transformers movie will suck. [LOL]
The Transformers movie will be great. [LOL]
Now, back to your regularly scheduled keyboard punching.....
Posted by: mineralblue

Re: New Transformers Movie - 07/04/07 12:50 PM

I never watched all of Pearl Harbor, but the actual attack scene was pretty cool.

I loved Armageddon.

Knock Michael Bay all you want, he's no Martin Scorsese... but he delivers when it comes to big budget action.

Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, Bad Boys I and II, The Island, The Rock...

All movies that never won anything remotely close like Best Picture... but all movies that I loved for mind-numbing action and popcorn crowd pleasing fun... exactly what I hope for in Transformers...
Posted by: BigE515

Re: New Transformers Movie - 07/04/07 01:36 PM

Bad Boys 1 & 2 weren't bad, even with Martin Lawrence in them and The Rock was good, even though Nicholas Cage was in it. :p So Wilmac, seven words-
Bad Boys One and Two
The Rock

imho most of the movies that have ever won best picture have sucked. I mean seriously the english patient. lame

Re: New Transformers Movie - 08/04/07 04:52 PM

movies are supposed to be fun. half the movies that win awards are lame ass artsy flicks that are snore fests. Some of them are good (the departed) but the best movies are the ones you watch all the time for the rest of your life. I think bad boys 2 is a awesome movie! look at that car chase scene!!! there are flubs..but who cares. bruckheimer is awesome! its a FUN movie. people take movies to seriously sometimes. Now there are crap movies out there. pretty much any movie with queen latifah, eddie murphy, tim allen..hahaha. I mean come on....does anyone read these scripts? transformers will be a fun movie. period. I grew up playing with them. and i cant wait to see the movie!

I heard they are going to do a 2nd and 3rd movie, or at least that's what it says here . Or maybe it's contingent on how this one does. I guess that's no surprise. However, I just remembered my favorite transformers which I doubt will be in this movie, so maybe I can hold out hope for the next ones. I loved all the ones the combined into a big robot. i.e. Constructicons , Stunticons , Aerialbots , etc. Yes, this movie is totally releasing my inner-geek. [Smoking]

No... as far as I know, Bonecrusher is alone in this movie... but that doesn't preclude the possibility of the combiner teams in future sequels... I hear they are definitely saving Soundwave and other characters in some form or another for the sequel... a la Xmen...

According to the interview articles, particularly of TF producer Tom DeSanto (who also was responsible for X-Men 1 & 2), Soundwave, Dinobots, and the Constructicons are all possibilities in future sequels...

I can't wait...but I can't stand that fat black kid who thinks he's funny because he can cry like a bitch on cue then screams every other line.

On the other hand; it would be pretty hard to ruin a movie where a tractor-trailer turns into a 30 foot robot.

Saw it last night.

It was definitely a Michael Bay movie... tons of action, hot babes, cool robots, slow motion dramatic shots...

That being said... the movie was fucking awesome.

Go see it. Go see it. Go see it.

(See it on a digital projector (DLP) if you can... the picture quality was fucking amazng)

Re: New Transformers Movie - 04/07/07 07:28 PM

I just saw it - Typical Michael Bay production. Alot of pretty bogus things happening in the movie - but hey - its a movie.

I would have wanted more character development amongst the robots. For example - Starscream is such a GREAT character and he barely got any speaking parts.

Hugo Weaving as Megatron was a good choice.

I got goosebumps when the Autobots assembled for the first time.

Theater actually applauded when the movie ended.

A definite cheap shot at the government if you stuck around for the credits.

Left the door open for a sequel pretty well too.

Everyone needs a sidekick like bumblebee - he really came in handy in hooking up Sam with that Megan Fox... RAWR!!

spoiler warning.

A few things disappointed me with this movie.

No character development amongst the Decepticons and any Autobot not named Bumblebee or Optimus. When Jazz died, I didn't really care cause there wasn't much of a character to care for. I was expecting Ironhide to be more of a bada** soldier. He didn't stand out to me, if anything Bumblebee was more of a soldier after he took out Barricade by himself.

Optimus gave up too easily at the end. After he laid some serious smack down on Bonecrusher under the freeway with his energy sword thing - you'd expect him to give Megatron a better fight.

They never explained what happened to that Soda machine that became a transformer and fired soda cans at people (Funny).

They never explained what happened to Barricade. Last we saw - he was chasing Bumblebee down some freeway going in the wrong direction.

I had to do a double take when Jazz breakdanced and said "Whut up bitches..." and Optimus said "My bad..." LOL

As for character development... I got a kick out of Megatron scolding Starscream for "failing him yet again"... as for the lack of development, I hope that the sequel will be even more badass... I was willing to cut this one some slack because they had to setup the origin story of the Transformers first...

Hugo Weaving was an awesome choice for Megatron's voice...

Barricade AND Scorponok both survived...

Did anyone else notice that the tank in the movie was named "Devastator," but all of the toys and press name him as Brawl?

BTW, if you missed it, Starscream was in the credits blasting off into space...

Re: New Transformers Movie - 05/07/07 08:00 PM

Michael Bay posted the following rant on his blog a few days ago, and then decided to pull it... but not before it spread across the internet like wildfire... now that Transformers has made a gajillion dollars worldwide, you think the studio is more likely to forgive him?

LET'S GET SOME FACTS STRAIGHT
06/29/2007 11:20 PM
The movie is over.
Wow that was a hard one, but I must tell you it was so much fun. The most difficult actors I’ve ever worked with, besides Bruce Willis, are Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. They took every single one of my days for a year. But they are well worth the work. I’ve just traveled 36,000 miles around the world (in two weeks) and had the most amazing premiere at the Taormina film festival in an ancient, Greek-built theatre that existed well before the birth of Christ. I loved seeing the reactions to the film from so many different cultures. This movie really travels around the world. I’m so excited for everyone to see it. Thanks to all you that supported me on this film.
Just so I set the story straight, my budget started at $145 Million, it crept to $150 and some change – I’m very proud of that – the fact that we are half the cost of all these other summer blockbusters. I see people doubt that out on the net, but anyone want to challenge me I’ll put a ten thousand dollar bet down on the table right now.
Even when the studio tried to ship me out to Canada or shoot down with Aussies - I looked but I knew we were dead up there. I needed my crew that I have been loyal to for years, they are the best in the world. Besides I believe American movies that portray America, should be made in America. I cut my fee 30% so I could make this at home. I knew this was right for the movie so I asked the other producers to join – Ian and Lorenzo did, and the two others (that came attached to the project) Tom Desanto and Don Murphy did not. That was my introduction to them – they did not want any part of their fee going to make a better movie. Things like that don’t usually sit well with me.
Now that the movie is done I get strange questions from the press. Like 'how did Tom control the set'? What? 'How did Tom and Don control you?' What the fuck. 'How was it working with Tom and Don who knew Transformers so well?' 'We heard Tom wrote the story – he had a 90 page treatment, right?' Okay stop. Let me take you back in time. Tom and Don are very nice guys, but let’s get some facts straight.
Tom had one creative meeting with me for one hour and ten minutes to be exact about a year ago. He told he was the über fan boy and was going to protect me from the minefields. The type of minefields on the Net like 'Damn you Michael Bay' 'You wrecked my childhood Michael Bay' and other various web death threats I received. Tom proceeded to tell me how much he had problems with the robot designs and script issues. I realized he was worlds apart in my vision. I said thank you very much, and then showed him my office door - I never really spoke to him again other then to mutter hello. He would occasionally come to the set with guests like it was some theme park. I never spoke creatively with Don. I read his notes kind of trashing the script and making me and the writers feel like a big shit pile. But during production Don was nice to me, he knew I was not going to talk creative with him.
One day not too long ago, the writers of our movie Alex and Bob called me in a panic saying all of a sudden after the movie was almost finished in post that Tom was applying for writer's or story credit. I was appalled because neither the writer’s nor I ever saw any treatment. Well, he applied for credit, but the Writer’s Guild shot him down, denied him.
But what made my blood curl was something that was on the Net with Tom at the Saturn awards on IESB.net where they interviewed him about the movie – a movie I might add he had not seen yet. He acted very much like he did. Check it out as he vamps through the questions, and how Hugo put his 'thumb print on it'. Give me a break, the guy was lying through his teeth - he had seen nada, nothing, until the press screening.
So that’s the real truth, I had to say it, cause I'm tired of answering these questions.
What these guys did do was stuck with a ‘silly toy movie’ and pushed it around town and kept the faith after everyone turned them down, always with the hope that maybe someone somewhere would make it. Now I commend them on that. Hats off to them, but trying to taking creative credit in the press let me just say it – irks me. Too many credits are given to too many people who had nothing to do with the movie. Hell, even investment bankers with not the slightest idea of how to make a movie all of a sudden are big producers in town.
I guess that’s how it goes in Hollywood.
Michael Bay

Give them a year to negotiate Michael Bay or some other director... fortunately, the cast is contractually locked down for sequels already and most of the preproduction work has been already done for this movie (they just need to design some new characters now)... given them a few months to write the screenplay and to do some shooting and then a few more months to do the post-production... so yeah... two years sounds about right.

Re: New Transformers Movie - 07/07/07 11:56 PM

Here's a review a friend of mine made on another forum.

"OK, I just got back from seeing this movie....

I was not impressed, and I take back taking back all the mean things I said in the original thread.

It was EXACTLY what I feared it would be- an overblown summer blockbuster special FX extravaganza. Formulaic, paint-by-numbers plot that begs the hi-tech action scenes to carry it on its back the entire movie. The robots may have been the best 3D CGI that Hollywood can buy, but all the characters might as well have been cardboard cut-outs. And although this movie was meant for kids, (that weren't even born when the original Transformers movie hit the big screen, by the way), I felt several IQ points slip away during most of the verbal exchanges that happened in this flick.

Even the action scenes weren't all that great. Sure, the skill and artistry that went into the robots beating on each other was a colossal computer marvel that I appreciated. And the vehicle/robot design was pretty impressive. But it all seemed so overdone that most of the movement was blurred beyond recognition when the fists started flying. Even on the IMAX screen, which was designed specifically to capture all that movement in its giant granduer. And seriously, whats so different about the CGI used in this movie that's so much greater than the CGI used in, say.... Godzilla???

Maybe I reminisce too much about the childhood wonder that befell me when I got my first Transformer toy, (Cliffjumper). Maybe I've just lost touch with the youth of today. Maybe I've just gotten bitter in my old age.

Or maybe this movie just plain sucks.

I should've just bought the toy and video game tie-in merchandise and saved myself the three and a half hours I spent waiting for the movie to end.

And that, dear reader, is how you write a movie review."

I thought that too. He seemed oddly impatient at Sam's House and pretty weak at his inability to save Bumblebee from being captured and from saving Sam and Megan Fox from falling off his shoulder. Other than totally Pwning Bonecrusher - he didn't do much - heck - he didn't even defeat Megatron - Megatron pretty much beat Prime into submission to the point where prime was ready to give up and sacrifice himself. Definely not the fatherly leader Optimus Prime that we all knew and loved from the 1980's.

Question - Does beheading a transformer kill them? It worked on Bonecrusher but it didn't work on Frenzy.

I thought that too. He seemed oddly impatient at Sam's House and pretty weak at his inability to save Bumblebee from being captured and from saving Sam and Megan Fox from falling off his shoulder. Question - Does beheading a transformer kill them? It worked on Bonecrusher but it didn't work on Frenzy.[/b]
I think frenzy is a different kind of robot then the rest of them.

close.

The decepticons were the warrior class and the autobots were the blue collar working class.

Being the HUGE nerd that I am (I think they call it Geek Cheek now) I was at the special Monday screening with alot of people who, to my wife's very large surprise, we're even more fanatical than me. There's lots of action and it doesn't take itself too seriously (as seriously as a movie containing a tractor-trailer that converts into a 30 foot robot should anyway), but the story is very true to the original cartoon series from the eighties...minor variation to the Energon Cubes thingy, all in all I loved it...And for some reason I'm thinking of buying a Saleen

Finally saw it yesterday, and all I can say is that Michael Bay has done it again. Poor direction, poor acting, flabby script, lame jokes, etc., etc., etc.

Good special effects, though, and Optimus Prime did look cool.

It was worth seeing, and though a pretty poor movie, it did bring up some happy childhood memories (I loved the Transformers cartoon and especially Optimus Prime when I was a kid).

I don't think Bay has ever made what I'd call a "good" movie, other than maybe The Island. Though I could be just saying that because Scarlett Johansson was in it, as she's a major hottie (way hotter than the chick in Transformers, imo).

ETD - "The Rock" was also pretty good.

Vote for your favorite 'Transformers' character

The producers of the blockbuster live-action Transformers movie are putting together plans for a sequel, and they say fan input will weigh heavily on their choices."We want what the fans want," says producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. "We'll listen and see if we can discern if what makes sense and what kind of movie they would like to see." Vote for the character you would like to see in a Transformers sequel above, then tell us why in the comments box below.

lame how Hasbro and the movie studio missed out on that error... they have all the toys labeled as "Brawl" but the movie
definitely calls the tank "Devastator" (even though it was pretty much relegated to a subtitle for Decepticonese... lame...

I guess when the DVD is released, they'll correct the subtitle and rename the tank, Brawl to conform with all the Hasbro movie marketing...

Soundwave would be totally lame if he were only 3 feet tall and looked like Frenzy in the movie... if he gets reinvented in the sequel, I can see him coming back as something totally different... being the communications/reconaissance guru, and seeing as how many of the Decepticons chose military and police vehicles... he'd be good as maybe an AWACS plane , a submarine, or a stealth bomber...

A LETTER TO OPTIMUS PRIME FROM HIS GEICO AUTO INSURANCE AGENT.
Quote:
Dear Mr. Prime,

We have received your accident-claim reports for the month of June—they total 27. I regret to inform you that GEICO will not be able to reimburse you for any of those repairs. I feel that I have sent the same letter to you once a month for the last six months, and I am now sending it again.

Since becoming a GEICO customer in January of this year, you have reported 131 accidents, requesting reimbursement for repairs necessitated by each one. You have claimed not to be responsible in any of them, usually listing the cause of the accident as either "Sneak attack by Decepticons" or "Unavoidable damage caused by protecting freedom for all sentient beings."

The only repairs for which you were reimbursed were the replacement of a cracked fender and a headlight, required after a Mr. I. Ron Hide backed his van into your truck; these cost $1,286.63. Our own investigation concluded that you were not at fault and that Mr. Hide had been drinking prior to the accident. Though police were unable to test his blood-alcohol level—Mr. Hide claimed that it would be impossible for police to examine his blood-alcohol content with a Breathalyzer, because he "doesn't breathe"—under Washington-state law, refusal to take a Breathalyzer test is equivalent to returning a result above the legal level. Full version.

A LETTER TO
OPTIMUS PRIME
FROM HIS GEICO
AUTO INSURANCE
AGENT.
BY JOHN FRANK WEAVER
- - - -

Dear Mr.

But, I repeat, those were the only repairs for which you have been reimbursed, and it was a very minor accident in comparison to your other claims. I mention a few to illustrate the larger trend:

$379,431.34 requested reimbursement for repairs to your truck cabin. You claimed the damage was caused by attacking fighter jets.
$665,789.11 requested reimbursement for repairs to your trailer. You claimed the damage was caused by a giant mechanical scorpion, which I can only assume is some amusement-park ride, although I question the wisdom of bringing your mobile home so close to such dangerous equipment.
$6,564,239.44 requested reimbursement for repairs to a truck part called the "Autobot Matrix of Leadership." You stated this occurred in "an ultimate confrontation between good and evil," with a Ms. Meg Atron and a Mr. U. Nicron causing the damage in question. Mr. Prime, I have checked every known car- and truck-part catalog published in the United States and have found nothing even resembling that part, never mind any part so expensive. Whatever disagreements you had with Ms. Atron and Mr. Nicron, I suggest that next time you either settle things peaceably or leave your Autobot Matrix of Leadership at home so it doesn't break. GEICO does not cover Autobot Matrix of Leaderships.
And the list goes on. Mr. Prime, I am going to remind you again: Your policy with GEICO only reimburses you for accidents that occur while you are engaged in the reasonable use of your truck and trailer. As I told you when you originally purchased the policy, GEICO does not offer Megatron coverage, Starscream coverage, Soundwave coverage, Decepticon coverage, or Energon-blast coverage. Those are just not the types of damages we would expect from reasonable use.

To sum up, GEICO has been unable to reimburse you for any repairs, but due to the high number of accidents you have been a party to this month, combined with the many accidents you have had in the preceding five months, your premium has increased to $235,567.50 per month. While that may seem like a lot, I remind you that it is a savings of $137 over Progressive and $98 over State Farm. Please have your check into our main office by the end of July.

Regards,

Simon Furman
GEICO Agent

Motor Trend Article: Saleen will produce the S-302 Extreme... the non-police version of "Barricade"

If you're scratching your head trying to figure out what could possibly make Saleen's S302 Mustang even better, Saleen already has the answer. More power.

Yep, turns out the boys at Saleen just weren't content with the current 550 horsepower S302 so they turned up the wick on the 302 cubic-inch (4.9-liter for you metric-heads) V8 to produce "well in excess of" 600 horses. Dubbed the Saleen S302 Extreme, this beast is of the same configuration as "Barricade," the Decepticon police car featured in the new Transformers movie -- minus the 5-0 specific adornments, of course.

Re: New Transformers Movie - 22/07/07 05:31 PM

Well, we FINALLY saw it today. Yes, our lives revolve around our 1-year old. smile We got to see the “Digital” version (although I don’t know what the difference was…anyone?). Anyway, here’s my quick summary. The movie was freakin’ sweet and I will most definitely be going to see it again. The CGI was wicked sick. Everything was great and I only have a few complaints. I think there were way too many human characters and that confused my wife the most. She compared it to reading a book and going back a few pages to see who was who, but she obviously couldn’t do that for a movie. I think the movie was an excellent “first” movie setting everything up. I do think they tried to cram too much together though almost acting like there wouldn’t be sequels. A few scenes went by way too quickly and there were some wtf’s. There was some pretty bad acting at times too, but nothing major. As I pointed out earlier, I’m disappointed that they used the name Devastator for the tank when it clearly should have been Brawl. Hopefully the real Devastator will be in the next movie, but they did kill Bonecrusher too so the pretty much butchered any hopes of that. Finally, we missed the credits, so I need to find them somewhere since someone has mentioned there was additional stuff during them. Maybe it’s on youtube or emule or something. [Freak] My favorite parts were when Bubblebee upgraded to the New Camaro, the jet scene with Starscream joining in, Prime’s intro with all the Autobots and just about all the action scenes.

ETA: I need to remind myself not to watch any of the trailers or "leaked" footage when the Sequel starts getting closer. I just couldn't help myself this one time, but I learned my lesson. And I thought the part with the Beagle 2 Mars Rover wasn't going to be in the movie. Liar (Michael Bay). :p

The digital has got better clarity... unless you got jipped and watched regular projection... the images were just crisp like watching an HDTV... regular film projection can be somewhat occasionally blurry and with the occasional imperfections in the film reel...

as for the credits... you basically had Spike's parents talking about how they trust the government... and then a little later on you see Starscream flying up from the sky and then blasting off into space...

Yeah, we suck when it comes to seeing the differences in quality of picture. That's probably why I only need to get an HD TV of 1080i quality as opposed to paying the extra for 1080p. We're just not good at seeing minor differences.

But watching it at home, not paying the high ticket cost and dealing with the crowd is worth it. it is dvd quality and better than a couple movies i've bought. watching it again as i type.
