I like these. Looks like they came straight out of Prevention Magazine.

Some of them look a little dark on my monitor here at my office though. (cubicle lighting [Freak] )

you are right, they are a little dark I take my pics underexposed and change exposure in lightroom.
they have not been processed yet.

Not bad. I like the compostions but think your lighting needs some work.

I do expose right, i use both my camera meter and my Sekonic, but its better to underexposed a little so you'll have room to play around in either PS or lightroom. An over exposed photo tend to record less data or detail.
Also for this type of job were bracketing wasn't an option you want to take the photo a under exposed, its better and easier to adjust an under exposed shot in photoediting software.

You get more data being a little under exposed photo than an over exposed shot.

Again this are raw images have not been touched up.

Warlock... I love #1 and #3... They both look very candid instead of a premedatated (sp?) composition... Great job!!!

I do really like the composition and the tones in these? What camera/lens combo were you using? Off camera lighting? ambient?

Re: Warlock's photoshoot this weekend - 07/08/07 10:58 AM

Camera is a D70, D70s and fuji S3 (i dropped my d2x with the abr800 that day ill post the pics of the ABR800 it sustained most of the impact, but since the D2X was dropped i did not use it)
Camera settings go to MENU > Shooting Menu (camera icon) > Optimize Image > Custom > (set Saturation to + and Color Mode to IIIa) > - - Done > OK. If you forget to select "- - Done" and hit OK it won't remember these settings!
I used this settings for more of a catalog effect a little saturation just enough to make it like more of a product shot.
Lens used:
nikon 17-55mm 2.8
nikon 70-300mm 4 5.6 used with ABR800
nikon 50mm 1.4
nikon 70-200 2.8 vr
Lighting
2 AB800
1 AB1600
1 Ring Flash
4 SB800
2 SB600

I used a Wein hotshoe to shoe to fire the Alienbees and the nikon SB.
Nikon SB were set to manual just enough light to introduce details and the 2 AB800 as primary lighting and the AB1600 bouncing of the ceiling.

On the Alienbees i used the AB RF wireless trigger. i find having the PW a little to much

Here are the damages to the ABR800 from this weekend but first of let me say that Alienbees are great product and really have a great support. Also the unit still fires and the modeling light still works

It happened to fast that i could not image how it flew off. I was a cross the street taking the first image that i have posted. Camera connected to the ABR800 and ABR800 to the VAGABOND.
I lifted my camera as soon as the car i was waiting for to pass. I lifted and the ABR800 and it flew off the camera attachment brace.
The unit was sent back to Alienbees for repair hope to get back before friday.
As far as the D2X the shutter needs to be replaced, Penncamera is working on getting it up and running for me.

If I did that, I would be broken in about 100 places. Plus, if my wife waked in behind me, she'd be scarred for life.
