$50 iBook if you live in/near Richmond, VA - 04/08/05 03:12 PM

NOTICE - Public sale of iBooks for the general community has been moved from August 9th to August 16th and now the iBooks will only be available for residents and taxpayers of Henrico County

The Henrico County iBook sale scheduled for August 9th has been changed. A sale open to Henrico County residents and taxpayers ONLY will be held on August 16th at the Richmond International Raceway.

The main gate will open at 7 a.m. and the sale begins at 9 a.m. Overnight parking and camping will be prohibited.

One thousand laptops will be available on a first-come first-serve basis - limit one per person. The cost is $50 each. Cash or personal checks will be accepted.

Why didn't they just give the computers to the kids to take home?

If their goal was money, hell, Ebay them.

(As of now, there are not any iBooks from VA posted on Ebay today)

If anyone from XOC went, I heard there was a stampede of 5100 people for the computers. Some lady pushing her baby in a stroller got trampled. Sad.

Yes, that did happen. Along with a grown woman, with two small children, publicly pissing on herself so she wouldn't lose her place in line.
