Online music service

Online music service - 25/12/05 01:52 PM

My daughter got a Rio Forge for Xmas. I signed her up Napster, Music Match and Rhapsody. All allow you to look at songs and they SAY you can download anything. However as soon as you pick a popular title, they want an additional $.99!! WTF?!

Looks like WalMarts pure $.88/song deal is how I'm going to have to go.

Any other places I can try?

I did my time on the free file sharing racket. I'd rather not have my 10 year old doing that, trying to set a good example and all. I have no problem paying for a service where I can down load songs and pay for them. Still cheaper than buying an album.

I started using them when I got frustrated at not being able to get the stuff I wanted from i-tunes/Napster etc. It's cheap and works great.
Seems kinda gray marketish, but from the research I did it is legal.

Wow. Very interesting to see albums for $2-$3 instead of $12 or so. Some songs cost $.15! I'll have to check into that some more, and use a CC with good fraud protection! LOL

Anymore sites?

Fuck Walmart's music, that's all I got to say about that. I'm not sure if they do it online as well, but that edited shit they sell in the store can eat my ass. I want unedited music, period.

AllofMP3 seems to be the best. Of course its a bit grey to say the least. smile

Does making a good faith effort to pay good enough? laugh

Be sure to check out their privacy statement and such. Also note, they are a Russian site so maybe their laws are different regarding copyrights!

If I understand allofmp3 correctly (or more like the russian laws confused ), some $$ gets to the artists, but the record companies get stiffed.

Given the treatment of the general public by the record companies over the years, I have no problem with that.

They do it online, too. They suck.
