D'oh! A Deer...

D'oh! A Deer... - 21/09/06 04:35 AM

So there I am, just minding my own business, cruisin' down the road, when out of the corner of my eye I see it: A nice buck coming right across the road! I slam down hard on the brakes and congratulate myself for not customizing my front end! Then what happens? I turn and see another buck and he slams right into the side of my X!!! frown

Godamnit!!!!

It hit hard, and being the animal rights activist that I am, I immidiately shout "I HOPE YOU BROKE YOUR FUCKING NECK!!!"

Ugh!!!!!!

He bashed in the rear quarter panel real good! It looked like he also hit the tire which probably saved me from getting even more damage.

THey say bad luck comes in threes. So far I had someone trade paint with me in a parking lot while I was shopping. I had some dizzy bitch slam into me from behind while I was stopped at a red light. And now this...

My poor X looks worse than my 16 year old jeep CJ-7 did when I decided to get rid of it!

Godamnit, Godamnit, Godamnit!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhh yes, the rut in PA causes SOOO much damage...I hit 3 deer during rut 2 years ago. It was with the Chevy, no damage. If I hit one with the X it will be my insurance paying for the Shrockworks bumper.

I came real close to hitting a buck the other night. He barely missed my Shrock. Still would have sucked, though.

Good luck with the repairs!

Probably one of the very few cases where instead of a car hitting a deer, the deer hit the car (truck) [LOL]

Yes, deer can can be stupid little F*&kers sometimes, huh? Living in northern Indiana and Michigan a good chunk of my life, I've seen it all with deer.

that sucks.. If it makes you feel any better I ran over a cat the other week laugh .. I think the only thing that we have on this island that we could hit that would cause damage would be boars or a mongoose..

Where's the pictures?

I wonder what would happen to a deer when getting a close up with a shrock at 40mph and what would happen to the truck too.

If it were a Texas deer it might get its horns caught in the step rail or perhaps mess up your center caps... that's about it.

If you had the brushguards on the Shrock...nothin...Deer would = open eyed with tongue hanging out of mouth.

Well you have seen my X and I took out a deer on I-76 doing about 65 a few years back (in the pre body lift, winch, giant tire days) broke a marker light and got a few makes in the hood from the arb but that's it. (now after rebuild tand reinforcing the brakets I doubt the bumper would move at all)

Just got off the phone with the insurance company. It will cost me 100.00 out of pocket, but my rates will not go up. So, the X will get fixed! I'll try and get some pics in the next day or two...

I hit a doe fawn 2 weeks after I bought my X in 2000. Did over $800 in damage to the front left of the X. Good thing I didn't hit the mom that crossed first!

That sucks, but at least it won't be too bad to get it fixed.

Stupid deer, one did the same thing to a friend of mine's Mom. Ran right into the side of her Explorer mad
