Very Quick Survey: How many gallons fill your Xterra tank?

My 2012 Pro4X only fills w/16.5 gallons of gas when on Empty (21 gallon tank). Could you take 5 seconds now and reply how many gallons gas you can put into your empty Xterra tank? '04 SE... +/- 17 gal., depending on the pump.

I just got a 2013 Pro4x and it only takes about 16.5-17 gallons after the light comes on. I also thought that to be strange.

I am considering driving it for a while with the light on to see how far it can go...I would think that I should be able to burn at least 3 more gallons. At the 15-16mpg I have been getting that would be another 45+ miles after the light is on.

About 17 gal. in my '04, depending in what station I stop at.

Hey Nick! Thanks for your reply! Just wanted to follow up: has the gas tank volume gotten any better for you? When my tank needle is below Empty in my 2012 Pro4X (and my Drive to Empty miles is blinking at 0 miles on the gauge), I can only get 16.5 gallons of gas in my tank, sounds like you have had a similar situation? It's frustrating b/c the stated tank volume for my/our car is 21 gallons, and my previous car was 2006 Xterra which filled to approx 20 gallons when on empty. I hate that this tank capacity seems to be smaller (and that I have to stop and get gas more frequently), and want to try and address it with Nissan (in my visits to Nissan, they have confirmed that I have a 21 gallon tank, but think that the "reserve/waste" volume is perhaps the missing 5 gallons, when in most other cars that volume is only 1+ gallons of space). I don't let my tank fall below 1/2 tank. It is hard on the fuel pump which is the gas tank and cooled by the gas in the tank to let it drop too low.

Defibvt, thanks for your reply. But when you fill it half tank, what is the volume you put in? For my 21 gallon tank, only 8 gallons gets it full when I am at half-tank (it should be closer to 10 gallons, it would seem)...when at half-tank, can you fill it with 10 gallons of gas?

I have a 2013 Pro4X, I can get close to 18 in it if I'm below a quarter tank, haven't got it down to where the light comes on yet.
