Tcase gear installation

I searched...
Anyone have a suggestion for a shop/person to do the calmini gear set install in the bay area... preferably north bay. I will hand them the tcase.

Actaully I don't think they can do it. Rear End Specialties only works on differnentials.

Gary, have you tried contacting Marty? Another option may be to post this question on Pirate4x4 or on a Yota board, as they seem to do these upgrades more frequently then we do. You just need to find a shop that is confident enough to handle a Japanese t-case. Also let them know that you have detailed install directions (which include grinding the t-case for clearance). I realy have no idea of the guy's name. Marty knows him personally as they are good friends and I only met him briefly when I droped the t-case off. Drop Marty an email at his webTV address, I think that's the one he checks most (I'll PM you the info). BTW, the shop should be relatively close to you (Santa Rosa).

Gary, I finally got ahold of Danny (the mechnic). He now works at another garage and doesn't think that his boss will let him do the work. I should be seeing him in a few days to see if he can do it thorough the business and get a price. I hope you are just planning on taking the transfercase out and delivering it. Otherwise it can be a lot more expensive.

Anyways here are a few hints on pulling the t-case out of the truck:

-drain both the transmission and t-case of all oil
-jack up the front of the x and place two jackstands under the frame
-pull both t-bars out (you will need the space)
-remove the cover in the cabin for the tranmission
-unplug the 3(?) electrical connecter plugs
-remove the front and rear driveshafts (remember to mark them so that they re-align during install)
-now start removing the bolts that hold the t-case to the trans (some will require access from inside the cabin)
-once all the bolts have been removed, lightly support the t-case with a jack (preferably a trans jack, but a floor jack will do in a pinch)
-then carefully pry the t-case from the trans with a screwdriver. you will need an oil pan as there will still be a bit of oil that will leak out.
-slowly pull the t-case toward the back the truck till you can claer the input shaft
-here's the tricky bit, carefully rotate the t-case out from below the truck

**having a second set of hands will make life easier, but I pulled mine myself while swearing and yelling.

Those directions are quite simplified, but you will find it quite straight forward once you start. Also having a good selection of extensions for your ratchet will definately help.
