Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 12/03/05 04:47 PM

The website has been updated to include all of the necessary information for the general public and persons wishing to show their vehicles.http://www.miramarevents.com/dreammachines/. It's the last Sunday in April, the 24th. I'll be joining a small group of muscle cars with my Xterra, but it would be great if we could go as a large group, with or without the muscle cars. A month and a half should provide plenty of notice to plan for. I'll post another reminder after the first of the month since it might be a little early to reply now. Think about it. Thanks. [Wave]

It's $25 to enter the show as an exhibitor, I believe it's free to be a spectator...

Are you suggesting we (NCCX) participate in the exhibition by showing off our rigs or that we all go spectate together as a "club outing"?

Go as exhibitor's, as a group. General admission is $15. Exhibitor's is $25 which includes one passenger. Let's show off our rigs! Isn't that what clubbin's all about? I'll keep trying to enlist the group. As I said I'll post a reminder right after the first of April. wink

I'm in. I would love to go as a club and show of our rigs. Plus it gives me a deadline to have all the new stuff I bought this winter on my rig.

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 15/03/05 12:39 PM

I wonder if the event organizers would allow us to get our trucks twisty? If we could somehow fabricate an RTI ramp and pose a couple of trucks, that would be cool.

I think the plan is to exhibit. If you prefer not to enter your truck, you can support those of us who do.

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 05/04/05 08:39 PM

FYI - It isn't a competition, it's just a fun way to show off what you have. It doen't matter what condition or how not modified your rig is. If you've never been there before you'll be surprised to see some normal looking vehicles and some exotic ones too. They have tractor pulls, steam engine displays and tons of other stuff to see. You can lock up your truck and spend the day wandering around only to be back at your truck in time to leave. You don't have to hang out by your truck if you don't want to. I'm bringing a canopy to keep out of the sun. I don't know what's allowed in the way of things like a frame twister but maybe something simple a like the type of short ramps you would use to work under your truck.
I will get the "when to meet" details from my friend with the muscle car. We would more than likely be meeting at a "Park-n-ride" near Hiway 280 about 6:30 a.m. That should get us to the airport around 7:00. If you've gone before and got there after 8:00 I'm sure you've noticed how bad traffic was since Hiways 1 and 92 are just one lane in each direction. Going early allows for a better place to park and you can get to the restaurant at the airport building for a decent breakfast before the crowds get big. [ThumbsUp]

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 11/04/05 01:56 PM

Notice: the exhibition entry fee is $25 per vehicle if postmarked by April 15. (That's this Friday!)

The entry cost after that date is $30. They recommend doing pre-registration by mail since it makes event planning easier. Here\'s the entry form (pdf).

Spectators cost $15 at the gate.

Who is going to do this for sure? (I'm undecided on whether to exhibit, but I'd like to go if there'll be more of us there.)

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 11/04/05 08:29 PM

I guess I missed that part about pre-registering. I'll drop mine in the mail tomorrow. I don't remember if my friend pre-registered last year, but I do remember paying as we went in, so I guess not. Go ahead and register to make it easier like they say. I'll be down at Antelope Valley photographing wildflowers on Thursday until next Tuesday. I'll let you know what time to meet so we can all park together after I get back next week. [ThumbsUp]

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 19/04/05 03:33 PM

OK here's the scoop and it's not going to be very popular. We will be leaving from the Park-n-Ride at Page Mill and 280 at 0615 Sunday morning. The Park-n-Ride is just west of 280. I know that early on when I tried to do anything with the club and I proposed meeting very early I always got shot down but I'm sticking it to this. You'll thank me later for not being stuck on the highway for hours. After we park we'll go to the airport building for breakfast. I'm bringing a canopy to keep out of the sun and folding chairs.

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 21/04/05 01:10 PM

Doesn't the show start at 10am? You'll arrive at the showgrounds before 7am; what are you gonna do for the 3 hours before the show starts? [Freak]

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 22/04/05 08:25 PM

If you're going to SHOW your rig you have to be there before the general public. If you wait until the event officially opens you'll be waiting on hiways 92 and 1 for a long time. After we stage our vehicles we'll walk over to the airport building to have breakfast and then walk around before the bulk of the crowds get there. Otherwise we'll relax back at our vehicles until the show starts. Hurry up and wait. I've been in the military too long to worry about sitting around for a couple of hours. I'll bring a book.

Re: Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show - 24/04/05 08:27 PM

OK, maybe I chose a bad place to meet. After I got there I noticed it didn't have a sign saying it was a Park-n-Ride. I met Andy at the In-n-Out at Rengstorff and 101 at about 6 then jetted off to Page Mill and 280. We didn't get there until about 6:20, saw nobody, and continued on to Half Moon Bay. The weather was good and didn't clear and warm up till about 1:00. We left about 2:00. If I think about it next year we'll meet at the In-n-Out like Andy recommended. I'd post photo's if I knew how. Sorry.
