Snow run 11/21-23 - 16/11/03 04:22 PM

Anyone up for a snow run into Bowman Lake area? Or any other spot near water? I'm thinking of going in Fri and come out Sun. [Geek]
I've got a buddy just down the road and will be checking with him later in the week to see if we can get in. If not, maybe a little lower elevation lake?? Or, or...any other ideas for a run?

Ummmm...Snowwww!
I'm kind of interested in this (I guess camping in the snow is something everyone should try at least once, right????).
However, a couple caveats:
(1) the NatnlWthrSrvce thinks this weekends storm "COULD BE A WHOPPER OF A SNOWSTORM FOR THE SIERRA".
(2) I'll likely have to work until 6-ish Friday night.

The NOAA report for Blue Canyon and western Sierras as of a few minutes ago Hey, looks like Fri and Sat get snowed in, Sunday is a sunny day of digging out.
Let's see what happens as the week progresses.
Chris, I stay ready for a run any time you can make it!

Mid Hills Campground

Nestled in pinyon pine and juniper trees at 5,600 feet, Mid Hills Campground is much cooler than the desert floor below.Temperatures at Mid Hills are 10 to 15 degrees lower than at Hole in the Wall Campground. It is well located for hiking and sightseeing. There are 26 campsites and facilities include pit toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, trashcans, and drinkable water on a limited basis. The road to the campground is not paved and is not recommended for motorhomes or trailers.

Oooh, I did the Bowman Area last year during a snowstorm. Pretty fun stuff...

Might be interested, depending on weather.

Here's the deal. Anyone wanting to get in on this, we'll meet at Hi20 intersection with Bowman Lake turn off. I spoke with Tahoe Forrest this morning and the road is not gated. He didn't have info on how much snow is on the road but we'll find out. My thought is to give it a try and if we can't get in, find another area to explore...Eagle Lakes maybe. Anyway, it will be an adventure.
So: 9:30 Sat morning at the turn off, FRS 2, sub1, CB 40
1. Olebiker

PS: It's gonna be chilly, like single digits, but no snow forcasted for Sat and Sun. eek

Not too inviting eh?
Well, given the response, we won't be at the appointed meeting spot. We'll monitor the CB and FRS
