Hey guys,

What's the difficulty of the tail? I am bone stock 2006 Off-Road (gots a locker!) and have no $$$ for mods...

I would advise sliders.

Read this trail review.

Here are some pics.

Youtube video of the hardest part.

I would actually require sliders on this trail, unless you don't mind denting your rockers. There is a bypass for the hard part, but right after there are quite a few bolders that will reach out and grab a rocker or two, esp if you aren't lifted.

Huey or Dean or anyone else,

do you think I could make this with my skills? (none)
I think my rig will make it just wondering if I can do this?
I have camping equipment (tent stove etc) anything else I would need. I will have full belly amour, sliders and I have bumpers front and back w/winch. 3 inch PRG suspension and Firestone 285/75/16 MTs(new).
The wife says she is up for this with the boys (4.5 YO)

Waddaya think?

Per Josh's request, coordinates:
http://www.4x4trailmaps.com/Maps/State/California/Slick_Rock/Slick_Rock.html
I think the camping area that Huey was proposing with vault toilets is before the staging area next to Utica Reservoir.

Re: Slickrock trail run 8/15-8/16 signup (8/22 trip cancelled) - 10/08/09 01:15 AM

Josh, this is the trailhead/staging area:

map link.

Dispersed camping is available along the graded road that follows the Utica Reservoir shoreline, 1/2 mile prior to reaching the trailhead. If you can find a spot along the reservoir that can accommodate our group, go for it. The Forest Service provides portable toilets scattered throughout that region, so it may be more desirable for the women and kids to camp where restroom access is relatively convenient.

If nothing decent is available, drive about 1/4 mile of the trail itself (past the staging area), and choose a campsite immediately after crossing the bridge. There's a really nice spot tucked away to the right side, after crossing the bridge, and larger sites are immediately to the left after crossing the bridge.

I just wanted to start a potluck list for those that would like to join in. This is for Sat dinner only. Please post what you would like to bring and how many in your party.

Huey and Heather - will bring cookies and ingredients for smores. Possibly a dinner item also, but unsure what.

Also as a side note I'll bring some eggs and cheese to share for Sun breakfast.

Ok guys (and gals) I will see y'all some time Saturday. I will try to pick the best camp site I can find. Looks like Geoff will be joining me tomorrow, so I will have help.

Give my cell a call if you think of anything I need to know before tomorrow noonish.

Thanks to all who helped a new guy out on the trail.
Josh,Matt,Jeff & Dean. smile
It was good camping with everyone. I think I was the only one in my family that was scared. When the rig went on two wheels and started to tip. That got my attention. My kids really loved Porthos too. Cheers to all.

Gary,
Hay, good to here from you. It's been awhile. How's the sailing going?
Thanks, the rig has come out quite nice. I am very happy with it. As for BRT let me know. I haven't been on that trail since I went with you last time.

Say hello to the wife and daughter for me.
