I haven't bought an Xterra but I was wondering where you guys all go to get your trucks dirty in Vancouver?

Stave Lake Mud Flats. Indian Arm Road, Shannoin Creek Road up to Squamish. Chehalis Lake FSR (west of Harrison Lake).

Hey jkeitch, you just missed a little day trip me and two others did up around Squamish. Aside from what Rick mentioned, there are some fun trails on both the West side and East side of Lake Harrison. I slapped some of the pics from this weekend's trip up in the Pictures section.

There's a book that you can buy in Chapters called "The Four-Wheeler's Campanion, An Off-Road Guide to Southwestern BC", 3rd Edition.

It's really useful. Lists all the trails in the lower mainland and beyond. Every trail is rated from 1 - 10. Maps are given and the articles tell you how far into each trail to turn, etc.

Chilliwack Valley is also pretty nice btw.

I was going to say, the BC Govn't used to have really good pdf maps of both Squamish and Harrison, but I can't find them now. All links pointing to them are dead. frown

Thankfully I have them all backed up!

Only problem is they're really huge, 28 MB just for Squamish, and 5 for the Chilliwack region. But they're great maps. I can either put them up on my ftp site for you to download (would take long if you only have dial up), or I could burn them to CD for you.

Hell, here ya go, one of the pages (the fun part of Lake Harrison, West side). Only around 350KB. linkage

After careful review I can confidently say this summer I will drive from Harrison to HWY 1 via the Nahatlatch, finally. Anybody wanna come exploring? laugh

Thanks superjens for all your help. I'll have to check out those links later. Are the maps on those links the full 28MB and 5MB files that you have?

My guess is the trip would be minimum 5 hours from Harrison (town) to where the Nahatlatch meets Hwy 1. On top of that you have the drive to there, then back. It might make sense to camp out at Harrison the night before, then hit the road first thing in the morning. I dunno when, maybe sometime in May?
