Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004

Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004 - 17/09/04 12:12 PM

All -

Trophy Nissan has asked us to do a truck show for them at Town East Mall on October 23, 2004. They are going to supply trophies and prizes for various categories, have non-costing raffle hand outs, catered food, and some radio station on site DJ-ing the event. This is not for Xterra's only; Hummers, Jeep and Land Rover clubs have confirmed they are coming too. So get your truck cleaned up, clean a neighbor's too and come on out!

All you have to do is show up, park your truck (or Jeep or Land Rover or F-150), hang out, chat, eat and win something.

More to come as the day approaches.

So how is it we have one campout a month for Boy Scouts and which weekend is it? Of course this one. frown It's either the truck show or fishing in Galveston Bay, guess which one is not going to happen. Of course if the weather in Galveston is as bad as it was yesterday (it was nasty humid last night tryng to get to sleep in the tent), I may have chosen the wrong thing, but that's how it s.

Re: Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004 - 27/09/04 05:28 AM

What would be nice is if we have a huge turn-out and make this one big-o club gathering. All of the 4x2s thgat say they can never go to an event... well here is one!

So.... who is coming?

Roger?
Jason G part 1?
Jason G part 2?
Scooter?
Graham?
Avery?
Paul?
Long?
Musick?
Jonathan?
Patrick?
Fred?
Dan?
Daniel?
David O?
Kraig?
Tunnell?
Copeland?
Schlee?
Clint?
And the others who I cannot name off the top of my head... smile

So far there are more TNT and FORD people coming than SWXC-ers! Come-on folks, all you need to do is drive over park, eat (for free), hang out, and win free stuff!!

It's in Mesquite - there is no shortage of old wheels and cinder blocks, so you can save yourself the trouble of carrying them. In fact, people often pose their cars on cinder blocks! Just kidding... (well, a little, anyway). Mesquite is a pretty nice area that's a little bit out in the country, but not so far from Dallas that it's isolated.

I really hope that I can go to yall's event. I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody on this site. I'm pretty sure I can pull some strings laugh . Well now yall got another X really excited to go, and I hope I can get my system ready by then... Cause damn, I'd be the loudest X in the place laugh laugh laugh

I don't know the details - but she takes her X to shows all the time... She's got this custom "thing" that takes up most of the back of her truck with a whole bunch of big subs in it.

Is it the loudest? I dunno - but it's very very very very loud to be sure.

ya, not trying to be an ass or anything, just pointing something out. But it says in the trunk that there are 4 12 inch L7's, but don't L7's come in silver color not black? I think L5's are the ones in black. Either way, is she goin to Dallas? Cause i'd appreciate her to be there, I'm really looking forward to a hearing aid by the age of 25, and I think that car can help my cause. laugh

Re: Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004 - 11/10/04 09:23 AM

They are L7s, just a couple of years old. The new ones are silver. I prefer to stick with the older stuff, it is more reliable.
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004 - 11/10/04 07:02 PM

is it that much more reliable? Cause I'ma be using a Single 15" L7

Re: Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004 - 13/10/04 08:35 PM

Ram:

Congrats on the new job! I hope it's all that you are hoping for.

Judging by the pics of the other Xs, I see there are not only REALLY COOL DIRTY OUTDOORSY Xs, but CLEAN ones that look really great! Rags's X has an awesome stereo.

Ours has the stock Nissan stereo (in fact, the whole vehicle is all stock). It's an OK sound system, but I can see why some folks would opt to upgrade. Ours sounds a bit tinny and the rear speakers are pretty weak unless you stick your head in the back.

For now, we're still enjoying the cleanliness of a new-ish vehicle, but I hope to someday "break it in" in the dirt.

Question... Hot Rodders from the '60s and '70s attached Traction Masters (or other brand of traction bars) to their leaf springs to minimize torquing of the leaf springs during acceleration. Our SC really squats under hard acceleration (especially on the right side) and I am considering this as an option, but don't know how these things would fare in mild off-road situations. It would reduce ground clearance close to the axle by a few inches, but what I'm most curious about is the torque-release would be less slack, and in slippery conditions, I would think you'd want more "give" for smoother throttle tip-in (and less snap to the tires, less spin). Has anyone tried these?

TIA

Well, I got good news! my sound system is now ready! Also, I'm getting the remote starter shipped to me Wed. so I'll also have that ready for the meeting. Even more! Since I'm gonna be up in Dallas, and I need the Mean Green Alternator, cause my system is that power hungry, I figured that I'll go to the shop in Dallas (xterraparts.com) and get one. Yay! Ain't this an exciting time for my X!

Oh ya! I'll also be joining SWXC!

ya, lol I'm counting down too... My friend and I will be hopefully installing the remote starter today, and I'll hopefully be spray painting my sub box. I can't wait to get that alternator though, my system reallly needs it. It also needs a capacitor. At night I turn the dash lights and fog lights off, just to lightly power the amp, this is insane! Is the alternator a hard install? In other words, think we can install it at the event? laugh I'd feel safer installing it with a bunch of X guys, rather than my friends.

Re: Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004 - 23/10/04 09:16 PM

Well, it was a really fun day out, and we were very pleased to meet those who could make it. The weather was nice, and it was a really good time for all. On the downside, there was no free food; but on the upside, there was no need to dig into the First Aid Kit for the Rolaids®. We had a lot of fun just admiring the other vehicles and hearing the funny stories everyone had - and I thoroughly enjoyed the totally cool atmosphere - no elitists in the group, just a bunch of people who love their Xs and seemed to want to hear the latest stories of what ELSE you can use an X for.

So, without further ado, here are some pics and captions - sorry if there are errors in names and such; we're newbies and don't know EVERYONE's names / screennames / vehicles, etc. These pics sure don't show all the vehicles - just the ones I thought to take pics of.

The line-up begins, 2:30PM

Our little SE/SC.

The line-up, looking toward the west.

Check out that Hi-Lift® jack! Just a few pumps of the handle, and the X is UP! I was duly impressed.

hattrik21's very nice X! I really like this one a lot.

Looking hattrik21's sticker collection. I always thought OHV was Overhead Valve - but I guess it also means Off Highway Vehicle.

This one was very cool - an "I do almost anything I want to, almost anywhere I want to" look.

The BOTTLE OPENER BUMPER! I want to party with that dude... Seeing the bottle opener made me realize the First Aid Kit is SO passé.

See next post...

Re: Nissan Truck Show - October 23, 2004 - 23/10/04 09:19 PM

"Yeah, we baa-aaaad..." The Airtec® snorkel was really cool. This X looks like it has lived adventurously, but is well-maintained.

Looking at the back of the same X.

GOXO - Gathering Of XTerra Owners - someone who doesn't like the shift_capslock screen name, traceyragsdale, and Kaiser442.

Ramstein92's REALLY COOL X, seems to have all the stuff he needs, and I'd have to say it struck me as the most organized X I saw.

And who says MEN park better than WOMEN??? smile

Like rats to the dining table leg, these guys performed the entertainment! They gave it a shot to climb the light pole. Unfortunately, no pics of their progress, but it was pretty neat. Also, they were trying wheelies and front-wheel-stands. Only in a Jeep? Sounds like a challenge to the SWXOC!

Again, a GREAT time, it was a true pleasure meeting all of you.

Thanks,
--Rob

Hey

I wish I could've stayed longer cause I was having a real blast just looking at the fellow X's. I would have liked to meet the rest of ya'll. O well another time, I guess. Damn friends had to leave. They didn't really care to much. I guess they were expecting alot more. O well nothing I can do now. Makes me angered though. It was nice to meet the two I got to meet (Scott and Josh). Hope I can come to the next off-road event. Maybe with someone who cares about what we're doing.

Anyone get a pic of my truck? I doubt it, but if you did PM me.

BTW, Herk, My friends wanted me to give you props(Kudos, etc.) for your truck. They were really impressed by it.

Thanks,
