Barnwell Pics and Video (11-22-03) - 22/11/03 09:44 PM

Well I'd say we had a successful run today. It was my first real offroading trip. I had alot of fun and learned alot. Thanks everyone. I didn't get alot of good pictures, but here are a few of what I did get. I think I'm the only one who came home tonight. Everyone else is still out at camp! Anyways, had a great time and look forward to the next trip!

Ended up with:
4 4x4 Xterra's
1 4x4 Pathfinder
3 4x4 Frontiers
2 4x2 Frontiers
and a Z71 Chevy Truck

Think that was it, sorry if I left anyone out! Hey Roger!! Where were you?? Missed ya.

Those are great pictures Poorboy. Glad that you got to make it out and wheel with us for awhile.

Jonathan really did a great job out there for his first time. Hell, we had him strapping other people up a few places.

What time did you leave John? I can't remember if you were there when we tackled Twister. We managed to get Keith, FrontierChris, Doug and myself up it at night with no lights on. That's right, we all made it, blind not less. (take that Daniel) Couldn't have done it without Matt. Thanks.

For those that are in TNT, or might be interested, we are going to be voting on trail adoption. Right now we are looking at taking over Whatever, which is a ravine off camber trail that runs off Xway. Keith, Doug, Glen, Chevy guy and myself all ran it and thought it was a blast, but two wheel drives won't be able to make it until we fix the bypasses. Looking at possible changing the name. I'm rooting for Washout.

Anyway, great trip, very few damages, fun for all.
No piccs from me, I forgot to bring a camera.

I guess I answered my own question, you were there for Twister. Make sure to take a look at the video, guys. Poorboy got some good footage. Why no pics of Doug taking Twister?

Great job on the video!
I'm really looking forward to more pics. I too forgot my camera, sorry. Had a good time. Wish I could have been there longer! [Too much XOC]

There are a few more random ones here. It's just the directory from where the other pics are too, so, you'll just have to click through to see which ones you've seen and not.

I need to thank Jason (goofiefoot) as well as everyone else. If it weren't for you tires I wouldn't have been able to literaly walk up twister, Politician and Clyde's Ravine. I think it was also determined that disconnecting the front sway-bar on a stock X makes it much more capable as Jason's ramp scores and progress showed. There wasn't a 3 diamond trail that we had SERIOUS problems with that we had time to run.

Re: Barnwell Pics and Video (11-22-03) - 24/11/03 11:09 AM

The night run was the most adventurous that I have been a part of. We did Twister, which was fun, something else, Politician, and Clyde's Ravine! Everyone remembers the exit of Politician being somewhat difficult with the ledge right? Now that ledge is a series of foot high steps. The bypass we all used is worse than what used to be the normal trail. I had a great time on this trip, and can't wait to go again.

I will never wheel with the front sway bar on again. The night run was the most adventurous and most fun of the whole trip, although whatever was cool as hell.

You know, if Keith and Chris hadn't made it up Politician, or if they hadn't been in front of me, I might have turned around. Talk about serious butterflies. But the feeling at the end was awesome.

What was the name of that trail that we started with? The one with the steep grade by the machinery down by x camp?

No way man! I got Calmini steering remember. That was Herk's big white SC Frontier. He also is the first Frontier I have seen break a motor mount. It was the driver side just like all the rest that have broken. frown

I think it's Dogwood Valley - but some Land Rover club is about to change the name to something long, english, and snooty.

Hey - how was the drive home with no sways?

Long, English, and snooty. [Spit]

I think it will be funny when we have a tougher trail than the Land Rovers. Actually X-way is way harder than that other one now.

Hey John - I just went to look at your other pictures and the first one that popped up made me laugh:

This is what offroading would be like with no vehicles... [LOL]

Re: Barnwell Pics and Video (11-22-03) - 24/11/03 01:03 PM

I think they want to change it to Sulley Dr. or something related to Landrovers. Something English.

Offroading without trucks isn't as fun.

How was the drive with no sways....I felt like I was all over the place, but I don't know if it was that or the wind which was howling. Still haven't put them back on and i drove around Dallas alot last night. I want to go ahead and get new bushings before I put them on. I really do not like the way it feels on the road without them. just doen't feel as safe.

Re: Barnwell Pics and Video (11-22-03) - 25/11/03 05:36 AM

I just remembered...the Landrovers want to rename it Sullihul (?) after Sullihul, England where they are made. I might have spelled that wrong, but you get the general idea.

I know what you mean about without the sways , I have had my rear one on disconnected off road and the front one taken off. I am going to have to design a tricky front disconnect..

Re: Barnwell Pics and Video (11-22-03) - 28/11/03 07:21 AM

I had fun too, except for the carnage cutting my trail riding for the weekend short.....I was bumming that I couldn't do the night run with you guys. The stinking front swaywbar will not be coming back, I have already replace the outer tie-rod assembly, realignment and replaced the the motor mount........Calmini steering will be the next mod for me.. Jonathan, that was an AWESOME video... man you actually got some of the best action stuff. You also got it when I was yelling at Chris after Twister "you got stuck on the P$ssy thing" HAHAHAH I laughed so hard it scared the dog. Till next time, OH, I also want to put it on my website..

Re: Barnwell Pics and Video (11-22-03) - 28/11/03 10:09 PM

haha, yeah, I stuck that part in just for you. So what exactly was the deal with you getting out of your truck?? I remember you saying something about it later, but can't remember what it was. Bees in your pants??? haha. Perfectly fine with me if you put it on your site. I'm actually playing around with making a longer "Twister at Night" video sense it turned out to be such a big thing. When is your friend(sorry, forgot his name.. Matt?) going to get the video he shot together? haha, want to see myself in some stuff. Can't wait for the next trip. [Wave]
