Re: the den 12/19 - 20/11/04 08:09 AM

Ummm, proly the 19th for us. We'll proly go sooner but you know us - we're spontaneous.

BTW, we're moving I believe 13th of Dec. over to Bulverde and 1604. Going from 1067sqft to 2630sqft!

But back to the original, yep! It's killing me! I gotta go wheel! May go in the morning but then again we're off for Thanksgiving week. Anyone available to go during next week?

Re: the den 12/19 - 22/11/04 05:54 AM

Guys I went yesterday for awhile. You guys would've been hard pressed to go as far as we did. I actually had to tug on a Toy a couple of times. Water was over the hubs in many occasions and once or twice I think it may have been almost to the top of the tires.

Deeeep water! Mud wasn't a problem. We did finally give up when the rain started to intensify. Didn't wanna get stuck in a flash flood.

It is cool though!

Re: the den 12/19 - 22/11/04 09:18 AM

I can imagine the den looks pretty bad. Right now its been raining since like 3am or so non stop. And its been really really bad since about 8am here in new braunfels. Everything that can flood is flooded around me frown

So I imagine after today the den will probably be pretty worse off than it was sunday.

Re: the den 12/19 - 22/11/04 11:53 AM

Got out at lunch to survey the dmg around my apt frown I had to actually use 4-H to friggin get in and out of my complex! The water was over a foot deep in the back end of the complex where I park.

Here are a few shots of the area around me that usually floods, and a few of the back end of my complex after the rain slowed down enough to let the drainage catch up.

Hey I heard a terrible story that you cant drink beer while tubing the Guadalupe anymore. Is that true? Havent been in several years since I got married and had kids. The beer cooler used to have its own tube!

We went twice last year... the cooler tubes still exist and the drinking is definitely still a big part.... BUT... they do have spots where a bunch of yellow-shirted cops wade out into the river and stop people and bust them... particularly on the Comal when we did it the second time there were cops all over the place watching everyone like hawks. It was apparently okay to drink... because we were doing it right in front of them... but I assume they were waiting for anyone to show the slightest sign of having had too much or getting rowdy. frown

Jasun - you totally need to get a kayak and paddle around in the parking lot... that would be cool.

Re: the den 12/19 - 22/11/04 01:56 PM

hahah Glen I hadn't thought of that. When it gets bad the water is about 1.5 feet deep all the way around the corner to the front of the apt. Could be a good work out smile

Hey dirtguy, you're moving to my neck of the woods. Maybe I'll bump into you at HEb. Hint, don't go to the one at 1604 and 281. everyone who shops and works there are snobs. thousand oaks and jonesmalstsberger is a nice store.

I hoping this rain lets up soon. I havent gone to the den yet!

Re: the den 12/19 - 25/11/04 06:19 PM

Fishermom,

My parents live close to Bulverde and Thousand Oaks. I teach in Stone Oak so yes, that HEB at 281 is horrible. Busy all the time. I hear the one over at Nac. and O'Connor is a pretty nice one.

I do like the one at Thousand and Jones, too.

Patrick

p.s. Still looking forward to the 19th! We should be completely in the house by the 12th. We're having someone move us. Got a good price and that way our friends won't have a chance at over-doing it.

Re: the den 12/19 - 25/11/04 08:14 PM

Still like the HEB over at 10 and Dezavala.

Re: the den 12/19 - 07/12/04 08:22 AM

Unless Handbrake throws a !@#$storm, at least I will be there. See, at that time we'll have just completed moving and she apparently wants to have the house completely unpacked in a matter of days. Screw that! We're gonna need a day off after all that's been going on with us.

Sooo, good chance we'll be there.

Re: the den 12/19 - 07/12/04 11:27 AM

Dirtguy, sounds like your folks are in my neighborhood. I'm in Knoll Creek, also thousand oaks, wetmore area. As for HEB, Nacogdoches and OConnor is one of the largest volume stores in town, however, the clientelle is quite interesting. I'll stick to Jonesmaltsberger/thousand oaks.

Sunday the 19th I can't make it to the den. I work 2-11. Maybe some time in January. Still would love to go.

Re: the den 12/19 - 18/12/04 09:13 AM

Gotta love living in New Braunfels. I spent all last weekend tearing out the interior of my civic and shampooing the carpets due to about 2 inches of water that seeped in from under the doors when my front yard flooded.

Re: the den 12/19 - 18/12/04 09:18 AM

red civic, do you have an xterra in your garage or just cars?
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: the den 12/19 - 18/12/04 09:23 AM

My dad is xterraintx. I accompany him whenever possible and have met most everyone at mod days and trips to barnwell. I love four wheelin' but I'm not rich enough to have more than one auto hobby. But I get my chance when we mod his truck and take it to barnwell. I have helped him install most of his serious mods like the calmini steering, the suspension lift, shocks, snorkle, skid row plates, and the body lift (pain in the ass).

FUN!!! FUN!!! FUN!!!...Had a good time today over here at The Den...met up with Shiner, Dirtguy and some crazy Jeep's that were out there...and had some Wheeling fun.... no stuck or damage to us Nissan guys, but had a broken Axle with one our fellow Jeep guys that went along with us...I'll post some Pics later on....

Re: the den 12/19 - 19/12/04 06:49 PM

Yeah, um, Brian called Lil John after you guys left. He was still broken down at the pit! We went up, got his started but then the Jeep pickup got stuck and died in water/mud so I had to pull him out. We finally got back to Wicked around 4 or so.

Good to see you guys again and sorry we got all lost and messed up.

Hey Rick, did you get a pic of that Tomb Raider Jeep with the front end three feet off the ground? That was crazy!

Re: the den 12/19 - 20/12/04 05:57 AM

Sweet! Boy it seems like everyones day died after that axle. Winching that Jeep up Axle Rock was wicked. They had to strap a full-size Chevy up to the back of Oakey's Jeep to get him up the obstacle. Over on the TX4WD page there were a couple of pix of the blue Jeep loaded and being hauled out. Sucks!
