Re: Mod Day 17th - 05/01/04 05:12 AM

Which Gary is doing the suspension lift? I'll come for pic taking and all, but I will wait for my suspension lift until the next ModDay. We discovered that two lifts in one day is difficult at best to get done.

Re: Mod Day 17th - 05/01/04 06:57 AM

I've got some miscellaneous stuff to do if my parts ever come in - but nothing that will take all day (he said...) - so I should be able to help out some (unlike last time where I mostly watched and drank confused )

If my light bar ever gets here, I will need to install four lights on the roof....Kaiser, you gonna be up for it?

You know, lately the thought of anything electrical is starting to make me sick at my stomach... but yeah I'll help.

Oh your gonna help Kaiser [Finger] Or I'll send some trolls over to your house to kick your ass. Mainly, I just need your expert advice. I'm somewhat handy and could probably do it myself, but would appreciate any tips you learned doing yours. I'll buy ya a beer or two.

Re: Mod Day 17th - 07/01/04 08:23 AM

Chris,

Do you think it will be possible to work on Gary's and my suspension lift concurrently? I would like to get mine done, but remember when we tried to do the other Gary's truck and Abiel's...?

I guess my issue is, will there be space for two lift and all the other projects? I know you have the room, but what order are we gonna work in?

Geez, I hope that made sense.

If not call me at 469 546 2526.

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Mod Day 17th - 07/01/04 09:04 AM

Scott - if you think you can stand the possible disappointment of not getting it done, it might be good to bring the stuff and then make a judgment call once we are there about if there are enough people for the various projects.

I'd be particularly interested in helping with your lift if I can as I might want to do mine one day and it would be a great learning experience. We could always get together at another time to mess with it if you or someone else on this side of town has got an air impact setup.

Re: Mod Day 17th - 07/01/04 09:10 AM

I am going to bring the lift. If it gets done, wonderful, if not, no biggie.

And yes, your help would be much appreciated (after Jason's lighting of course. smile ).

Re: Mod Day 17th - 07/01/04 12:37 PM

I will move my truck off in the grass so it's away from everyone as long as the grass isn't dry. My welder has 50ft of cable so I can move mine out of everyone's way, and building the sliders can be done on the patio area before they are mounted on the truck.

Hey how about some info on the "Texan Nissan Trucks" ???

Thanks....

Re: Mod Day 17th - 07/01/04 02:56 PM

Why don't you go check out the Texas Nissan Truck website? I know that it is hard to remember the address and all, but here it is
www.texasnissantrucks.com

Plenty of info there for all.

P.S. That might have come out wrong, didn't mean to sound like a prick. Just being helpful, with a little sarcasm thrown in for fun. smile

our constitution is almost a direct rip off XOCs and we follow it as closely as humanly possible. T.N.T. is highly democratic. Any large changes in the club require a vote with majority rule.

Everything major has been voted into place, the constitution, the officers, and we work off member donations at the time since we are so small.

Roger go here and just say "i want to join". I will add you to the group so you can see the members forum.

Our Wavier form is what is going to determine membership once we get them out. Oh, and I try to cross post all events over here on SWXC so you miss little if you are a member of TNT or not.

Re: Mod Day 17th - 11/01/04 06:48 PM

Hey Scott, are you going for sure? If so, do you still have that old tow hook laying around? What do you want for it?

If not, does somebody else who now has an ARB have their tow hook that they would like to get rid of? I'm gonna try to get my old one off, maybe with some air tools or something. It is bent right where the bolt is and that thing does not want to move frown

I bought Becky a camera for Xmas... they're super cheap now. You can get a 2 megapixel Kodak EasyShare for $99. Oh, and don't let the camera Nazis turn you off over the 2 mexapixel image size... it's more than a regular person needs.

Understand that it will probaby rain on Saturday.
I am going over to Chris' tonight to string up a military tarp thatshould cover from the garage to almost the back gate. It might also go off to the side of the driveway some. I am pretty sure we can fit 3 vehicles under the tarp.

Why have two clubs serving the same people in the same area? Seems like a waste of resources.

TNT was formed because the Frontier and Pathfinder guys felt kind of left out of the SWXC... so there's a lot of membership overlap... but it's not exactly the same group.

It's always been made clear that SWXC invites anyone to come out and join in the fun - but I think some still felt like they were being tolerated rather than being a real part of the club... To me, the clubs are coexisting quite nicely. SWXC has a larger member base, great club discounts, and experienced people. TNT has the excitement and drive (read: activity level) of a new and smallish group.

I like both.

Wow. Why?

Just a member speaking here:

Anyone can join. If they don't have an X, then they join as assoicates. As assoicates they are still entitled to discounts from our sponsors, get their pic on our website and all that good stuff. We never exclude anyone from our events; members and non members can attend. Heck come out in a Baja Beetle for all I care. If you need a hug to feel welcome, I'll give ya one. smile The more the merrier!

Please explain...

Re: Mod Day 17th - 19/01/04 02:30 PM

Maybe I should have chosen my words more carefully.

I don't think anyone felt shunned by the club or unwelcome (keep in mind here that I'm still a noob to SWXC... I've had my Xterra since mid-2000 but I just joined the club in October or so... so my opinions are based on short-experience)... but the fact is that, even with a big "welcome, please come join us", it is still an Xterra club. The name kinda gives it away.

...and if I had a Frontier, though I would come out and try to be a part of the club, I'd still feel like I didn't quite belong and would be attracted by the idea of my own club (that included me in the name) where I fit in better and could be a full member. It's like going to your girlfriend's family reunion... you keep having to say "okay, well you don't know me... but you know Becky, right? I'm with her..."

The alternative would be to change SWXC to being SWNC or something... but then that fundamentally changes the nature of the club and most members probably would not want that (I don't even think I would.. I like feeling elite with my Xterra).

I do admit that it's a bit odd having the two groups so closely related... but TNT is drawing in a new set of people that I wouldn't have been able to meet otherwise - so I'm happy with it.

So it is an ego thing? Just because we don't have Frontier or Hardbody or R50 in the club name people want to go off and start a new club? The SWXC has been operating for the past 4 years with Frontier (and other Nissan trucks) in the club with no problems. I wonder why now people feel the need to go off and make a special club. It really does not do either club much good. In the past there have never been enough of any of the previously mentioned model lines to have a club. What changed?

By making another club in the region it only weakens the numbers of people in both clubs. And we all know that there is strength in numbers. The more members one club has the more power it has to:

a) gain more members
b) get more sponsorship
c) have more events (because you have a more diverse croud)

So tell me again why this is a good thing?

Re: Mod Day 17th - 19/01/04 03:59 PM

alright this seems to be a bit negative.

Carlton if you have any issues you would like to discuss about Texas Nissan Trucks and it's exsistance feel free to give me a call at
817 235 9909 after 9pm tonight or any night for that matter.

Re: Mod Day 17th - 19/01/04 05:16 PM

Why do you care Carlton? You live in freaking Minnesota now. [Finger]

Seriously though, there are now about 10-20 guys in TNT that I have never met before through SWXC. The whole thing started from the AC forum, and just kinda developed from there. As you know I have been going on runs and hanging out with SWXC for a couple years now. I have never felt unwelcome or anything like that either. There is room for two clubs to exist. Heck our trails at Barnwell cross each other. laugh

I think the main thing for us non-Xterra owners is the fact that we can only be associate members of SWXC. Overall, I think it is bringing the Nissan community here together, and bringing in a lot of new owners that have not previously been around.

Re: Mod Day 17th - 19/01/04 06:54 PM

I'm a proud member of both. Lots of us are members of both. And as soon as we come up with a sticker for TNT, I'll wear it proudly. What's the big deal? There isn't any tension or anger or resentment between the two. It's drawing more members together and offering more activities to participate in. I think its a great thing.
