Jan 17th, 18th and 19th? Central Mountains #23 - 11/01/04 12:08 PM

Dang, just checked out the trip you guys have planned for the 24th and 25th, sounds like fun, but we just finished planning our monthly trip for the weekend before. Doubtful I'll be able to do two weekends in a row... But I thought I'd post our plans in case anyone does get to play every weekend, or can't make the 24th,25th trip.

Next weekend, the 17-18th(with 19th a holiday for some), we're heading southward towards Redrock Canyon S.P., to try the Last Chance Canyon trail, and others nearby. Should be fun,we'll be leaving Sat at roughly 8am(we can't get the women to agree to anything earlier), camping overnight(possibly sun night as well if I feel like playing hooky from work mon...). If any one is interested let me know, esp. if some that have Mon off want to make it a longer trip, it may influence my decision of how I'll feel Mon(I think I feel a 24hr flu coming on...). I'm told to expect it to take us about 2.5hrs to reach Redrock Canyon S.P., our likely camping spot and "jumping off" area. If anyone wants to meet either there or at/near Mojave, let me know. We'll be 2 X's and an XJ, that I know of... if anyone is interested, let me know, and in any case, you guys have fun over the 24th and 25th.

I'm somewhat familiar with your area, at least navigating the freeways anyway, Mapquest says it about 2hrs via the 60 to the 5 to the 14, but I would probably opt for the 210 to the 5 to the 14, I'd think you'd shave a little time there. Again, as per mapquest, we're about 2.5hrs from Mojave, so you could leave home a little later than us and meet up at about the same time. From Mojave it should only be 20 miles or so, but I was not sure yet if we'd go straight to the campground, or head off onto a trail first, then hit the campground, alot depends on if we're trying to meet others, or if its just the 3 of us. If you have the Backcountry adventures book for Southern Ca, we're looking into central mountains #23 and surrounding trails. Feel free to join, do you have to work Monday?

ugh i have work AND school on monday. and driving that long for one-dayer is kind of well...a 2 hour drive for a one-dayer. i would love to make it, but that sounds a bit far for considering i wouldn't be able to camp.

Hey, just checked out some of your pics... nice. We're not doing a one day, we're the Sat and Sun. Monday we'll have to see about, I'm supposed to work, but...
As far as camping goes, we'll definently be there Sat night, so even if you're short on gear or something, you can sleep in the X and otherwise crash our camp.
