Sequoia - 13/06/03 10:41 PM

Hi all, I thought I be better off asking you guys here since you wheel a lot more than the frontier forum I'm in. Anyways, I'm heading over to Sequoia next week and would like to do some wheeling while I'm there. First off I have a 2x4 with no LSD and stock everything (I know) and I'm looking for some trails my truck will handle. Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated...except buying a 4x4 smile

Are you talking about the National *Forest* area mostly? I think the National Park is fairly restricted. When my duaghters and I went, I had forest service maps of the Sierra NF and the Sequoia NF and just explored. The maps indicate the road conditions pretty well:

The Kern Plateau area is good:

Kern Valley OHV guide with NF trail numbers:

We found quite a few good challenging roads in the area south of the "Trail of 100 Giants" area (generally south and around Johnsondale). Bring gasoline if possible; there are few gas stations in SNF, but those that exist are pretty expensive if you keep filling up there. I think Ponderosa was about it for the north loop. The food there is good though!

Where at in the sequoia? I'm in the central valley area and know several good areas you should be able to do, give me more info on where you're going and I'd be glad to help.
