New front bumper

New front bumper - 13/07/07 11:50 AM

138 pounds of Shrockworks bumper + 105 pounds of winch = a ton of fun!

I've still got to wire the fog lights and replace the steel rope with kevlar. I mounted a 450 pound electric winch in the garage which made the difficult easy. Since I took these pictures I cut a bit more of the fender liner out.

The winch is an SX12 rated at 12000 pounds. I figure that it's not going to see much use (God willing!).

Yeah I know. I beat them to hell at Big Bear and only managed to put a small tear (maybe it will get bigger) in one and some gashes in the stock wheels. I sort of hate giving up a set of tires that I paid good money for with less than 10,000 miles on them ... may be I could get John to drive my truck next time?

I'd like to replace the tires with BFG AT KO's and get some new wheels to match. The boss just gave me a rather nice bonus check. laugh

I can still fit ... just barely. I installed a hi lift jack mount on my rack while parked in the garage last night. This morning backing out for services ... crunch! The base of the hi lift smashed into the support brace of the garage door. With the jack removed the mounting stud just brushes the door gasket ... need new tires now. I'm rethinking my mounting plan now.

Paul good job on lights too, I will drive your truck if you promise to take a look at my PIAA mountings. Are you going for the 285/75/16rs?

Yeah, I've decided on the BFG AT KO's in 285/75/16 and should have them in a month or two when the spirt moves me. I just hate giving away a set of tires with 6000 miles on then.

Don't get me started (again). My ride looks like the spaceship from "Close Encounters" when all the lights are fired up already ... the neon slider lights do seem like an easy mod. [Uh Oh !]

I haven't wired the PIAAs up yet as the winch wiring has an loose connection somewhere near the bottom where I need to pull the front skid plate off. I'm hoping I can find it while the bumper is mounted ... or it gets to come off. [Crybaby]
