I'm confused, what are the ratings and how do they work? I'm assuming higher is better, but the weighted score thing has me confused. Is it just an average(mine works out kinda funny if thats so..)? I just read a post where someone was really upset that they had no rating even after being here for years, what do we get with a higher rating? Cookies? Free stickers? One of those cool nicknames like 'supporting moron'? Anyway, I just didn't know how that worked. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post, but it seemed like the best of my options.

Higher is better.
The rating is based on what people rate you, and what they are rated.
Some with a 5 rating, giving you a 1 will lower your score more than someone with a 1 rating giving you a 1.

Sorry, no prizes. smile

What about someone who doesn't allow themselves to be rated? What does our rating count?

For instance, if I just rated Ruger here a 1, what does that do?

I have no idea.

It will all be gone next week when I finally get the board converted.

Re: Rating - 12/06/03 06:39 PM

C'mon guys, why a 1? What did I do? I just asked a question, I'd been treating the rating thing seriously, giving high ratings to those who were particularly helpful, are they all for fun or what? Now my # of votes has doubled, but my scores gone down frown . Seriously, I was keeping an eye mainly on my own rating to know if others found my replies helpful or if I should just shut-up. Also I was refraining from giving negative ratings as I was always told "if you can't say anything nice..."

man i wish i could rate you again. this time, after reading your last post i'd give you a ... 1!

like ian said the rate thing is going away so don't think twice about it. it sounds like you're losing sleep over this subject...

Re: Rating - 12/06/03 06:54 PM

look with the exception of maybe ElectroKen and Davedatsun most people are not rated based on quality of replies or information... but on the controvertial topics in the ALR and clubhouse...

its a popularity contest

I'm sure that 'supporting moron' tag you threw out isn't going to help raise your rating much. smile

Re: Rating - 12/06/03 08:48 PM

Dang, and I almost clawed my way back to a "5". [LOL]

Your Rating:
Total Votes: 53
Weighted Score: 4.48

Edit: For the record, Ruger, I gave you a five. For me it was always one or five, no in-between. Merry Christmas. :p

Sorry if i offended anyone with the supporting moron thing, but I swear I saw it, someone has it. It was briefly discussed and I guess the person in question had been a member, but had made enemies so thats the name he/she got. I meant no disrespect to the actual supporting members. I'd join/send money if I could. Again, all apologies.

Dude, don't take it seriously, the rating thing, was initially supposed to be exactly what you described, but since we are all a bunch of knuckleheads, it quickly degraded into what it is now....

Also, don't apologize to these fuckers! smile That's like throwing chum in the waters....

I was nice. I rated you a 5! Now if you want to truly last on this board, you will do what Graham will probably do as soon as he reads this, and rate me a 1 for my efforts! smile

oopss! I mean Dudette!

Ruger the best way to get yourself a low rating is to ask about it. I predict you will be hitting an average of 1 very soon.

Me? Rate you a 1 just because of your silly-ass response, and ass-kissing 5 rating for Ruger?

Never. I will not rate you a 1 for that . . .

[Finger]

I already rated you a 1 about five months ago . . .

You bastard . . . laugh

I prefer to let those go. I got too wound up. Did I apologize for that?

If I didn't, then in clearer, objective hindsight, I apologize for it now . . .

and the first rule about ratings: "don't talk about ratings".

Mine is dropping like a rock just for posting about it here. Thanks you jealous 1-truckers. [Finger] [LOL]

Actually it was me who flew off the handle first then you promptly replied with your comments, which led to an apology from me, then you.... Then we went on to make fun of somebody else.... smile

Geez, I'm sorry I asked. At least the guy with the 'supporting moron' tag posted so I know I didn't just imagine that(feel free to change that now Ian and fuck with my head and make me look idiot). At any rate I think I'll just let it be now and try to make amends by posting insulting messages in the off-topic area....

I actually believe the ratings are a true reflection of your value.....take me for example, what do I have? 18, 19 posts? And how many trucks do you see? Huh? Huh? I have how many more than most supporting members AND the Administrator?

BluRdgX laugh

...whats that flashing object streaking rapidly to the ground? Oh.....yea........my rating... [Uh Oh !] ...guess I should have read my own tag line and kept my mouth shut.... [Freak]

So I selected your profile to give you a 1, and your profile shows you having two trucks, while your post shows you having three trucks. Wazzup widdat?

Now, regarding ratings.. everybody knows that the XOC ratings are extremely important. A four- and five-truck rating allows one into secret forums that are not viewable by, or even displayed for, those who have a three-truck or lower rating. Further, those of us who have a five, that information is also kept secret to three-truckers (that's what we call anyone who has three or less), by displaying a number that is less than five to them. For example, I have five, but you only see three because we don't want you to know we (I) have five. Keeps things secret.
