Pictures and image linking

Pictures and image linking - 15/12/04 08:12 PM

Can somebody (Todrick?) update the sticky in the Pictures section to something a little more useful and user-friendly? Been a couple of red X's (not the 4-wheel kind) there lately and I was just wondering how we could help out the newbies.

Maybe something like this?

--------------------------
How to Post Pictures in the XOC Pictures Section by Some Nerdy Yet Strangely Attractive Guy

Images should be no more than 640x480. Google for "image resizer" for lots of free/easy tools. Use www.imageshack.us and upload your image with the interface you'll see there, it's really simple. When it's done uploading, it'll give you all the code you need. It'll look something like this:

Code:
[IMG]http://img147.exs.cx/img147/3365/rav40mw.jpg[/IMG]
Just take that code right there exactly like that and put it into your post. There, now you'll be sharing your picture with everybody and we can all make fun of you for showing us your clean Xterra in your driveway with the babyseat and soccer gear.

Can't figure out how to resize your images? If you're using Windows go ahead and download this free image resizer tool from Microsoft.

Protips:

- Resize them to 640x480
- Stick to Xterra or Xterra-related pictures
- Upload to www.imageshack.us
- Post the image code in your post
- Paypal superjens $10 coz he's such a swell guy

Eh? Just trying to help. I'm serious about the $10. :p

Hey Mr. Administrator, we could even make it easier for geocities fanatics to post images properly. Imageshack is now inviting people to post up this code so anybody can offer their awesome image uploading service.

You could add this snazzy html code or something somewhere somehow ...

Code:
<iframe src="http://www.imageshack.us/iframe.php?bgcolor=FFFFFF" scrolling="no"
frameborder="0" width="280" height="70"> You must have iframe-compatable browser in order to view the upload
form.</iframe>
Humbly yours,
