OK. We've got to do something about the spammers. It's getting to the point of I don't care what, but we need to do something. I'm deleting 4-5 posts and a few new spam threads EVERY DAY!

Carlton - What are your thoughts on this?

What CAN be done? I've never ran a forum before nor am I a programmer of any language... I do agree that something need be done. It's annoying that this is the quiet season let alone when we DO have action... It's usually spam. :-( Gets my hopes up for nothing.

As I suggested in the shout box, look at registration and posting filters. Those are the things you see on sites sometimes where you have to duplicate the text that's in a box in order for your info to be accepted. The idea is that, because the box is an image and the text it contains can't be scraped from the image title, it's very difficult to automate the text that's in it. Therefore, a human has to be sitting at the keyboard. Most of the crap we've been seeing are bots that just scrape stuff from the site and then create an account and post useless shit. Because they are automated, this blocks them rather effectively.
