05 front cv shafts - 21/06/06 12:19 PM

My truck is at a Fabrication shop so I can't look but does anyone know if the left and right cv shafts are identical. They look to be from memory but are they the same part #.Any ideas on price also. Thanks ahead of time Brent. laugh

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214041&make=25

I dunno why, but the page does not like the URL...the entire assembly runs about $400.

Yeah, that's the shaft and inside and outside CV's. I can't find them listed seperatly any place, all I can find is the entire assembly.

I need the whole assembly for RCV Performance to do their thing but only want pieces for ECXC.

I think us New X's need to each buy one part of something that can and will break at ECXC so combined we have some spares...I ordered another Alternator. smile

Nissan has cut back severely on listing separate part numbers for the sub-components of things. There is a part number for the bare shaft w/o the joints for the 00-04, but not for the 05+. The front and rear diffs have nearly every part broken down on the 00-04, but if you need to replace something in an 05+ you have to buy the entire thing. Cheaper labor-wise to swap the whole damn thing than to take it apart.

I've got a line on a possible used one but won't know till July, and I can't find anything used on E-Bay. I was hoping for some Katrina part outs but no luck. My lower control arms are going to be outboard 3/4" from stock so I'm not sure what I can get done by ECXC. I'm thinking spacers on the inboard joints and a light right foot while in 4wd might be my only choice short term.

Wish I had scored the one I saw on Ebay months ago for $1 no reserve, figured I'd find someone that needed it eventually.

Spacers won't work for the inner CV joint. They don't bolt on frown

You will need to have custom axle shafts machined up. You can swap your stock ends onto these. I dont see any way around this. On the bright side you have them built out of 300m material and deem them unbreakable. There are a number of places that can do this. Sway-a-way for one.

300M would be massive overkill, the joints themselves are by far the weaker point even with the stock shafts and will blow before the stock shaft were to break, much less a 300M one.

Ok just build them out equivelant material to the stock ones, just at the right lenght. [Wave]

I got a replacement in on the 3rd and am sending it to RCV Performance so they can measure it and make me some extended shafts. I tried Sway Away through SLR as they already have the specs but with the price I was qouted it was cheaper to buy an assembly and send it to RCV. I'm sending the whole assembly to them so they can measure and diagram it all so they can come up with new high angle bulletproof CV joints also.
