Transmission ?

My trany takes 8.3 qts of fluid, how much will drain out. I know that some will stay in the transmission ,could some one let me know. thanks

I have an auto 4wd and if I drive one side on a ramp to get the fluid to shift toward the drain plug I fill a 5qt ice cream bucket uncomfortably full. I'm perhaps 1/3 qt shy of using 5 qts during the refill.
