Engine timing

Engine timing - 07/04/02 12:01 AM

Ok for the heck of it I decided to check the engine timing. So I pulled out the ESM, It says 20* BTDC. However under the hood ther is a sticker that says it shoudl be 10* BTDC. When I actually checked the timing it was at 15* BTDC.

So what is it supposed to be? I got an V6 SE '01 that was built in 9/00.

You disconnected BOTH the sockets, and the engine was FULLY warmed up, right? The timing for the 2001 V6's should be 10 degrees BTDC.

Click here for another thread with instructions imbedded for another similar story. Spec for the 01 V6 is 10 BTDC. 00' X's were speced at 15 BTDC.
Make sure you follow the instructions, disconnecting the TPS and stuff before you go about checking and adjusting. smile

Well I made a pretty dumb mistake I was reading the instructions for the 4 cylender. The section for the V-6 match the sticker on the hood 10* BTDC.
