In the morning when I get on the road... it takes a little while... 2 miles or so... for the tranny to switch into 4th. Its an auto. Is it something petty or is it a problem?

It's shifting to 4th, what you're mistaking is the fact that it's taking longer to warm up to the point where the torque converter will lock up. Search "torque converter lockup" for more details.
