05/06 Supercharger anyone??? - 26/05/06 02:06 AM

Hello...just a quick post to see what kind of interest exists for a supercharger kit for the 05/06 xterra. I personally just picked up a new one and love it; ironically enough the guys at work thought it would be cool to develop something for the new gen, so here I am seeking opionion and information. Please leave you're thoughts and feelings posted here...hopefully we can get this ball rolling into something that could end up being pretty cool. Thanks for your time...and I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say!

Chris.

A supercharger would be great, what company do you work for?

I'm sure that you would find a few people more than willing to part with a few $$ for a supercharger, and I am one of them.

Remember with a supercharger comes premium gas!$$$$$$

So I pay 3.60 instead of 3.30 a gallon for gas, either way I get raped by the gas companies. I might as well get more horsepower out of it.

I know you already own a 2nd gen...so here's an idea...
THEY HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH POWER

Sorry, I'm still waiting for someone to come out with a SC kit for the first gen X...I've gotten more anxious since I tried to follow Cyclemut and the Phoenix on I-70 up to the Eisenhower Tunnel

I'd be tempted someday in the future, depending on cost. It would be pretty sweet to have an Xterra that could take a Mustang GT off the line. wink

I think the New X attracts a wider audience and people love the power already, so more than a few would love even more...

and like someone already said, imagine killing ur buddies Stang GT off the line with 5 people sitting comfortably in your truck.

And rolling over in the first corner and killing 4 of your buddies and earn yourself 10 million debt to pay off.

This is ridiculous. No, it's not a street racer, although it seems too many on here seem to think it's just an off-road vehicle and damn near no more.

Anyone who could kill their friends with a supercharged Xterra taking a corner too hard could certainly do it with the current model.

Is it practical to put a blower on an SUV? Fuck no, but people do it. Hell, if there was no market for it, the Ram SRT-10 wouldn't exist. I mean, what's the point of having 500 HP in a truck??

Hate to tell ya people, but the new gen Xterra has the looks and PERFORMANCE to entice non-offroading people.

I prefer turbo chargers, but they are more complex, and they don't give you much help off the line, so it doesn't suit the X. The nice thing about 'em is they allow you to decide if you want to waste fuel.

lets be realistic here, you are not going to shave 2.5 to 3 seconds off your 0-60 times by bolting on a supercharger, granted i am always looking to go faster. but beating a mustang gt, thats pretty much ridiculous

I'm not saying you have to go offroad in an X, what I'm saying is: if you honestly thinks a 265 hp, low 15's SUV is still not enough performance, then it is time to move onto a different kind of vehicle.

You can dump money into forged internals and install a high boost blower etc, and still be slower than a Camaro with bolt-ons (mid 12's). I have the same message for SRT-10 Ram owners: good job dumping 50 - 60 grand into a pickup that's as fast as a Mach 1 or LS1, dumbass.

Trying to make a truck super fast is as stupid as buying a Civic, then doing a rwd conversion, an Allison transmission, with an 11 inch axle and 3/4 ton springs to make it into a tow rig. Why don't you just buy a 3/4 ton pickup instead?

Oh, really? You think it's impossible, eh? Happen to know what a stock Mustang GT from say 00-04 with an auto runs? Mid-14's is pretty much the norm. 14.5-14.6 is a pretty good number. That's not a 2.5-3 second difference from a 2wd 2nd Gen X, manual or auto.

For those who buy a $50k truck, do you REALLY think they couldn't afford to buy a fast car (read: Corvette) instead? Really think about that before answering.

And don't get me wrong, as fun as it sounds in some ways, the fact of the matter is damn near none of us would actually take the time and money to actually put a SC on an Xterra.

But that doesn't mean it isn't fun to think about it. wink

Hi guys, I am new to this forum and I have been working on my xterra for last 2 years. And smoking cars off the line is really fun:

As much work that was done on my X, to me, it is definitely worth it. Being able to smoke Stang GTs(up to 3rd gear) and FX35, Altima SE-R, full Jeep line ups except srt-8 and much more.

Re: 05/06 Supercharger anyone??? - 14/06/06 10:11 PM

i am in no way trying to make my 06 x a track car. i just sold my modded 05 wrx for the xterra and couldn't be happier. It wasn't insane or anything, but did pretty good at the track. i would just like a little more for getting up to freeway speed and towing.

*For anyone interested or curious my wrx mods were:
catless up and down pipe, greddy boost controller, greddy prototype full titanium exhaust, sti intercooler, jdm sti lateral links + trailing arms, jdm front/rear sway bars, greddy front/rear strut bar, tein flex coilovers+edfc, volk gram light 57f rims (17x9.5 and FORGED!!!) custom shaved trunk and avic d2 in dash nav+dvd...It was tons of fun but it was definately time to grow up. frown Oh well, maybe i can have one for a track car once i get settled in a job that pays better. Final hp count was 253 awhp.

-Hey Xr's- Ease up-I wouldn't do what this lad is doing, but SO WHAT! This is an Xterra forum-Some of the best Professional racers, today started out JUST LIKE KILR, I did mine in the '50/'60, but it was with Chrystler. Kilr might even find limits on X running gear/suspension-give the lad a break, he might even stay and tell us what these "TESTS" produce,if someone doesn't really piss him off!!
