Soon to be owner - have questions! - 23/06/03 01:30 PM

Hey gang,

I'm trading up from a VW Golf, and as a former member of some forums around those rides, I'm curious about some aspects of the Xterra. Are there any chips/powerboxes available for the Xterra? How good is the fuel mileage for you guys (actual vs the info on the Nissan site)...? Where are all your pictures? JEeeeez, the forums I'm coming from are fraught with pictures - from stock to riced out, there are major pictures. From my explorations of this site, I've yet to see a good section of this forum that's got a lot of good pics... ahha

OK nuff bitchin, this ride seems like a good way to go - Any opinions (good/bad) are welcomed!

Fuel milage is actually accurate in terms of what Nissan publishes.

Next time don't bitch, and scroll down the front page to the pictures section...that's where they are!

Unlike the rice-rocket sites, some people here actually post in the correct forums for the topic...

Actually, went there already, and there's 1 page of pics for a ride that's been out for almost 3 years??

BTW, VW's usually aren't rice rockets, so may wanna watch what you call

You're only viewing 30 days of posts, set it to 'Show All Topics' and you get 10 pages.

That's still not a bunch, since I keep the forums pruned around here since links don't always last.

We also have a Gallery

Got a link to a VW Golf forum that's worth looking at ?
I searched Google and came up with nothing but dead links and lame EZBoards.

Ok, so it's not a rocket...

What is it? a Kraut-Rocket [Spit]

I would suppose in reference to that comment you might like to ammend your first post to read:

"...the forums I'm coming from are fraught with pictures - from stock to krauted-out, there are major pictures."

Thanks in advance for your edit :p

That's a good ride to trade up from...

The best power mod comes from the factory! The supercharger... Also gets you a built-up engine and upgraded rims, trim and interior. If you do the mods you are asking about, you'll probably advance your timing and require premium fuel anyway, so why not go for the gusto???

How heavy is your foot? I average around 16 commuting (mostly highway few starts and stops), but have gotten 18 a couple of times on the open highway with cruise control @ 65MPH. Town stop and go driving stinks - as low as 10MPH - much worse if I have to actually go into DC [Huh?]

No suprise, it's a big heave truck (with a blower laugh )

It is an excellent ride! To quote others, I love my X!

Also I highly suggest you do a little homework before buying - check out a quality site like http://www.carbuyingtips.com Fill out the spreadsheet in chapter 4 so you know if you are getting screwed or not... read all of the other excellent advice and take it to heart. Don't be afraid to go to more than one $tealer (dealer)!

Good luck [Wave] and hopefully welcome to the club!

For those searching for the VW forum - it's www.vwvortex.com smile There are several others linked from it, and since I drove a TDI, www.tdiclub.com is another helpful forum.

If you have any other VW based q's, please do ask.

Thanks to those who've posted comments on the X - i eagerly look forward to purchasing one smile
