New Tires for a mazda 3 5dr

So after only 30k the my wifes mazda needs new tires. At the dealership they dont tell you the tires on it cost a cool 180 a shot. Being this is not a performance race car i was looking at 2 different tire with budget in mind.

any suggestions? Also what do the symbols A and AA mean in the description? They are both from sams club.

You need to get these tires. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTir...=KUMHZ8&rf=true I had them on my Spec V. They are a good all season tire. I ran them during a north texas ice storm a couple yars ago and had no problem keeping traction on the road.

A, AA, etc. are traction grades, with AA being the highest. Click for all you ever wanted to know about how to read a tire sidewall. The Potenza RE750 appears to be a very good higher-performance tire.

I did most of my tire research for my Mazdaspeed6 on tirerack, selected a few tires that had the price/performance point I was looking for, then shopped around for the best local deals. The RE750 was among the contenders, but I ended up going with the RE050A for my car, because I do drive it like a performance race car.

FWIW, my first set of tires lasted a mere 17,500 miles, so you're doing pretty good getting 30K out of low-profile "performance" tires. And you're lucky; the tires for my MS6 set me back $1000 for the set.

See if the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread comes in your size, they have been a excellent choice for my Subaru Outback. Great wet weather performance, more than adequate in the snow and no gripes about pushing them in the corners when dry. Oh yea and after 10,000+ miles they still look new.

Cooper Zeon A/S is the best A/S UHP we've ever run. They are almost as sticky as the Pirelli P Zero Rosso (ran those last year) with better wear than the Kumho ASX's (ran those the year before).

Talking about sticky rubbers and skid marks, eh?

I have BFG g-Force Sports on my Mazda3 5dr in the OEM size (205/50R17). I only got a hair over 20k miles on the factory tires and I'm already almost at 30k on these BFG's and they've got a ton of tread still on them and that's with, admittedly, minimal rotating. I don't even have cupping which I wholely expected since I have Tein H-Tech lowering springs which made put my rear wheels right on the limit of the negative camber spec.

Oh, and Dean, when did you get the MS6? No more TSX? I've been thinking very hard about trading in my 3 for a MS3 for some more Zoom Zoom, but I think I need to move closer to my job first. Hehe.

Traded the TSX in Jan '06. TSX A/T wasn't fun to drive. The MS6's 275HP and 6-speed gearbox is loads more enjoyable!

I have a set of these on my GeHo and agree. I was a bit skeptical at first, but for the money I don't think you can beat them. I was blow away by the performance:dollar ratio. Some friends of mine liked them on their G35 too.

But, the Bridgestone Potenza line is always a good safe bet too. I think I had RE730's (?) on my Audi and they were a very nice all season tire.

They are OK, but the Coops are better. The ASXs were probably the best UHP A/S buy a couple of years ago, but today the Zeons are, IMO. Like I said, ran both and the Zeons are lasting MUCH longer.

Had a boy racer car in the UK and the only tyres I'd put on it were Toyo Proxes. These things stick to the road like roadkill.
