Help in cleaning seats

Go figure...
I let the wife take the car last night for half an hour and what happens...
She spills lemonade all over the passenger seat.
I tried to clean it last night in the dark but from the looks of it this morning, I was not very succesful.
So now I have this huge spot on the passenger seat.
Any and all help would be greaatly appreciated to clean this up.

The basic recipe for lemonade is water, sugar and lemon juice. Plain water should dilute and remove the lemonade - wet the area with water and suck out the liquid with a wet/dry vac. Repeat several times. Lay absorbant towels over the area to draw out any more liquid.
After it dries, see how it looks. The bad news - lemon juice is a mild acid and may have stain/dyed the fabric. Most likely, permanent.
Don't have a wet/dry vac? Here is your excuse.

I've had lots of luck with Resolve Carpet Cleaner. I've used it on my seats for both "garage grunge" and muddy paw prints from the dog without problems. Once you get it cleaned up do yourself a favor and get some Scotchgard. They make stuff for auto upholstery. I forget what color can it is but it was 5 bucks well spent.

I will try the water method first and if that doesn't work I'll try the Resolve method.

Try cleaning with plain Seltzer Water.

I have a hoover steam vac. A little expensive, but it has more that paid for itself in cleaning mud and stuff from the X as well as cleaning the carpets in my house.

I've always heard that heating a non-greasy stain can set it.

Not sure if lemonaide qualifies... but it might be a precaution!

Sounds like you now have a slam dunk justification to install neoprene / water proof seat covers..!

don't go with the neoprene they are the worst at showing stains than any seat cover i have ever had. i cannot tell you the disgust i have for these pieces of overpriced crap!!!!!

no i've washed them correctly but let your kids spill something on them and see what happens, they show everything i only use them for off-roading now so i don't give a shit about getting them dirty anymore, they are just a catchy name added to an overpriced piece of crap!!!!!!!! anyways why are you jumping me, am i not entitled to an opinion, or are you just in love with youre seats that much that you are the only person in the world that has never got anything on them, hence why they are seat covers to protect the real seats, so before you start saying shit about the way i treat things why don't you ask first and stop assuming that i am a total slob you jerk. this is exactly why this board bites at times, jerks like you that think you are the only ones whose word counts.

I bought mine from Okoley (sp?). I *LOVE* them. I've spilled kool-aid, mud, used motor oil, gallons of sweat, diet coke, Bourbon whiskey (during the stereo install), AND the juice that squirts from the anal glands of a 100lb Redbone Hound dog (I'm sorry you had to hear that).

The only visible spot ANYWHERE in my solar yellow neoprene covers is a dime-sized blotch where I spilled the motor oil (dripped off my elbow when I was reaching in to start the truck after an oil change).

I toss them in the washer on the delicate cycle with hot water, Woolite, and a scoop of that "OxyClean" stuff that Clorox makes. On tough stuff, I use one of those SHOUT sticks.

Is it a pain in the ass to take of the covers and put them back on? Yea, a little. But it sure beats scrubbing motor oil and ass-juice out of the OEM fabric any day.

Brought this thread back to life because my three year old rug-rat is reeking havoc on the backseat of my truck. I will look into the Resolve, as it has worked in our house like a charm.

And PNUT, the anal glands thing is pretty disgusting!! But somehow, I feel you on the bourbon. I mix with with good old Coca-Cola!!

I have had good success with the Prestone Carpet and Upholstery cleaner as well as Tuff Stuff (yellow and red can).

Neoprene covers are tho ONLY way to go!!! They are relatively stain-free after 2 years of Dog/Human abuse. They do, however, fade eventually to a purple/grey color. Cleaning tip: Oxyclean in a tub with 3inches of hot water, scrub until clean, let soak. rinse w/hot water, hang dry & good to go. I never leave home without them-
