Don't get me wrong, I love my Xterra, I just wish the bumbers were painted instead of the plastic shit they are made of. I think it makes it look like an aztek or an avalanche. Hopefully Nissan will remedy this.

Noooooooooooooooooooo! I bought my X because it does NOT have painted bumpers. I think car manufactures love painted bumpers. Think off all the extra money their paint shops must generate from fixing them. Unpainted bumpers are pretty much maintenance free. Plus if you off road the last thing you want is painted bumpers.

If you really loved your X you would not compare it to the Asstek. :p

If you hate it so much, just get an ARB and paint it like these people want to do...

Recent thread on Painted ARBs with pics

With you having a silver ice... I think you'll like what you see in that thread.

I haven't seen a car or turck built in the last ten years that doesn't have plastic bumpers (except for a TJ).

Bumpers serve one purpose, absorb energy in a collision. The bumpers on the Xterra work as designed, and honestly look fine.

I'm a huge fan of the plastic rear bumper end caps. They are designed to pop off when you hit. The wife had two accidents (both end caps), caused $2,600ish in damage to the two other vehicles and cost me only the time it took to set and screw the plastic back on. Even if they had been damaged, $20 each at Xterraparts.com.

Just came back from the carwash to have wife's truck waxed and washed(her orders) wink. Overheard this guy complaining about his bill for hand wax and wash saying he's being overcharged $24.95 instead of $19.95. Managers explanation was they have to remove basket before waxing and with all the plastic on it, it uses too much ARMORALL.

Owners leaves fuming mad and cuzzing.Manager is heard saying, "that's what you get for making your Xterra too ladylike" laugh

Oh well this is LA.

ArmorAll is just about the worst thing you can put on plastic.

I hope you don't let them wash your Xterra.

Does this apply to the bumpers as well? confused Ive been using Armor All on my front and rear bumpers. My dad's been using Armor All for the last 13 years on his plastic (or is it rubber? or both?) Toyota van bumpers and dashboard and they still shine like new. Whats wrong with Armor All? granted I dont lather it on, and I definitely don't take the time to apply it to my basket.

proceeding to search for threads on armor all...

grrr... o well. I guess I'll leave the Armor All to the interior and get me some Mothers Back to Black for the bumpers...
