12 V Orbital Buffer - 04/09/03 06:15 AM

Is anybody using a 12V or a cordless orbital buffer? Any recommendations?

The car wash places I go to dont have power-outlets so the only choice I have is to use either a 12V or cordless. I have searched the web the only item I come up with is "PRO SHINE 12V Cordless/Rechargeable Buffer/Polisher". Its available at http://www.autobarn.net/pros12vcorbu.html for about $60 plus 7 shipping. Has anybody used this particular product?

Thanks for your help.

Hmmmm....you must live in apartment, that sucks! I use an older 9" Craftsman 110V buffer that works great. Porter Cable makes the best buffer, but they are $199.00 http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?L1=L1_2000&L2=L2_2060&SKU=10625 Thye also have an air powered one.

I own the model that rrdstarr is referring to. Pricey, but worth it if you're a detailing nut. Regardless of what you get, the most important thing is the pads / bonnets. Cheap ones will scratch the heck out of your fininsh. The best thing to do is get the foam pads for the buffer and rub the wax off by hand with soft cotton hand towels. I bought a half-dozen from Walmart for 2 or 3 bucks apiece and use them only for detailing.
