Tree sap ... or something

Tree sap ... or something - 21/02/01 10:16 AM

Grr..... I can't think of any trees that would be dripping sap on my truck this time of year in Mass, but over the last few days, I've acquired a lot of sticky drops on my hood, windshield, grill, and windows.

Luckily, Simple Green is taking it off, but JEEZ does it take a lot of effort!

i avoid trees as much a possible. the parking lot @ my co. has these horrendous sap-drippers. the only clean spots are right next to the entrances or @ the end of the lot. if i don't get a spot up close, i'll head to the end of the lot - long walk, but less work in the long run & saves the paint as well.
plus, not good when sap gets moist - it expands & smears when you try to run the wipers, making visibility out windshield difficult (used to park under trees in old honda - learned my lesson then.)

Stoner makes some stuff called Tarminator. It works great and it will not harm your paint. Just spray on a rag or spray it on the sap and let it sit for a few minutes and wipe off.

Good Luck,
Chris

To get sap off my X i used isopropyl alcohol. Put it on a cotton ball and wipe the sap off your windshield or hood. If you use it on your paint have some water ready to spray it off ass soon as you wipe the sap off. I am not sure if it will hurt the paint so use the alcohol at your own risk. Alcohol or IPA works great on the windows though.

IPA (isopropyl) will remove things like sap, but it will also remove many waxes, so if you use it be sure to rewax everywhere it touches. (If you like wax on your X).
