Yeahhhh, ok.

I just toss mine in the washer along with the mitt, they both come out brand spanking new and no worse for the wear.

For all of you using chamois, try The Absorber. You can get it at your auto parts store, and maybe k-mart/wal-mart/target places too. They are the best at drying vehicles. I think they are about $20.

I have to ask - how is the chamois getting dirty? It should only be touching the clean, wet surface of the paint and nothing else.
If the chamois is getting dirty then you've got to be doing something wrong. Without question, dirt on a chamois, or anything else used on the finish, will scratch the paint.
I can't stress how important it is to be meticulously clean with anything that comes in contact with the paint.

Yeah, but once in awhile you drop it, or it comes too close to the underside of a part that you didn't get quite so hospital-like clean or whatever. Dirt happens.

Just make sure when you put it in the washing machine you DO NOT use detergent.

Absorbers are great, they only cost 9-10 bucks not 20 and they last longer and are easier to take care of.

Lasts longer? I've been using the same chamois for about 11 years now.

I've got the absorber too. $8.95 at Pep Boys and soaks up water like nothing else. I dry over half of the X before I remember to wring the thing out.

My Chamois said to rinse it out with clean water with a SMALL amount of detergent in it, then allow it to air dry. I normally, after I am finished washing, refill my wash bucket and add 3-5 drops of soap, aggitate the chamois in the water, then wring it out and allow it to dry over the back of one of the chairs in the dinig room....(my fiance loves the X too...lol)

I tossed the old Chamois in the garbage today and bought an Absorber....i like it MUCH BETTER!!! Mostly because it has the case to put it in, so it doesn't dry out. It seems to hold more water than the chamois too.
