Front Plastic bumper Mystery?

The front plastic bumper (bumper piece right below the Nisson emblem), I noticed it is made of a different material than than the main front lower bumper..in fact its coated with something...whatever it is, its chipping away revealing a shiny black bumper that looks like jet black wet black paint that is darker than the coating...the chipped away section is about the size of a dime right now...but I noticed some smaller chipping in other places...

anyway have any insight on this problem???

Well, you have an 03, so I woudn't even try to figure out what it is. Just take it in and get it replaced under warranty...you probably just got a bad bumper piece.

also would like to note that Nisson is great on warrenty...but you have to call Nissan not your dealer. Had my X for 1 week noticed a scratch in the wheel..(no offroad). Wheel replaced. no questions. But my dealer on the other hand is hard to deal with. unfortunate.

Didn't someone have this same problem and it was found to be caused by the dealership putting un concentrated washer fluid in and dripping some on the grill?

Come to think of it, you're right... and I think it was also causing discoloration of the plastic cowl pieces at the base of the windshield where the washer jets are. It's worth looking into....

yup which ever not adding water is hehe I looked for the topic but could not find it. I know I met the guy at the plant tour in 02 and saw the spots on his bumper, I know he had a molten lava 02 X but I can't remember his name.
