Paint rims - 16/04/01 01:18 PM
I have a superblack XE 2001. It comes with the shiny steel rims. I have wanted dark rims for a while. Any experience with painting/powder coating them? I wouldn't do it if the coating scratches easily or looks like it was done in a garage with a spray paint. I guess I could just buy new black rims but I am concerned about fit and also saving $$$. Any thoughts?

Powder coating provides an extremely durable finish, and IMO is a much harder and durable finish than factory paint. Harley uses the process to paint their tanks and fenders. It is an extremely tuff finish with a nice shine and depth. Unfortunately, the cost of sandblasting and powdercoating will be more expensive than purchasing wheels that have already been powder coated.

I too am looking for darker, graphite color rims. I like the looks of the ones on new Frontiers!

If you do it have it professionally done.
