Obsessed much? - 09/05/01 11:53 AM

Wow I dont know why but it seems like I cant make a move without havin to wash my X, I just hate the way the pollen builds up daily. My neighbor came out last night while I was washing it and says to me "Obsessed with keeping that thing clean or something?" hehe. I just cant stand it to look filthy.

Well ya know it really doesnt show when you look at it from the outside but when you get in and you can see that fine layer of yellow its just saddening.

If I'm headin' out, I hose the sucker off first. I'd rather have some water spots than a vehicle covered in Yellow Death.

Good thing you don't have a dark color because you would never leave home. I had a gold Prizm and it never looked dirty. Dusty hood is a standard with my X.

You ever try a California Car Duster? I don't know how it works on pollen, but it's great for the dust we get here in the Southwest. Cuts down on the washing a lot.

Car dusters work great on pollen. I do my X every day before I go to work. And my wife thinks I'm obseesed

HEHE No I'll have to try it out. I usually just hit it with a little Mothers Showroom Quick Shine but a feather duster sounds a bit less tedious. But I can just imagine the comments from my wife.

"Bite me, honey."

I hear you XDriven! Before I got my X I never washed my car and I'm basically a slob. Now I'm washing it constantly, and I've bought almost every cleaning item that has been mentioned in the apperance forum. I'm not done done buying stuff either. I have friends from out of town coming in tomorrow and I'm getting ready to give the X an inspection and clean it inside out! I have no idea where this side of me came from!

Re: Obsessed much? - 10/05/01 02:24 PM

Gave it a "quick wash" today, just to get the pollen, tree sap mist and tree crap off. How insanely annoying to be washing the truck only to watch the stuff fall from the trees and cover it AS you're washing it...

Oh well. Washed it, pressure washed the undercarriage and wheel wells and dried it. Cleaned the door jambs and weatherstripping, washed the floor mats, vaccuumed the interior, wiped all the vinyl down (with a damp rag) and shined the tires... Good as new! For five minutes, anyway. Driving off though, most of the new accumulation blew off.

It was a "quick wash" cuz I didn't wax it, do the bumpers and trim, yada yada.

I need help. Soon.

Just can't stop looking at mine (unless I'm on XOC), my wife started calling me a looser, but then she got to drive the X today, and started hinting around about one for herself.

So if you guys had a girlfriend with an Xterra, would you meticulously wash hers too? If so, e-mail me.

And the fun just never ends. Last time I responded to a response from Midnight I ended up with a pic of my X looking like a taxi. I'm staying out of this one, thank you very much.

Re: Obsessed much? - 03/06/01 08:05 PM

I have owned my X for almost 4 weeks and probably have washed it as many times as my prior car (Nissan Sentra) over the past 4 years. Every time I look at my X and see any dust or wear, I must wash it on the way home. Also cannot cannot clean the inside out enough. The X is the 8th car I have owned since I started driving, but the 1st that I am compelled to keep in great condition! Good thing I have the Silver Ice and not a darker color, or I would be washing the X twice a day (-;
