found the best wax - 26/05/04 06:34 AM

Just my opinion but I waxed my X yesterday and the new eagle one nano wax id the best. I have tried other waxes but this one filled in all hairline scraches, acid rain, everthing. wow what a difference. No white residue either. Best stuff out there!!!!!

Never tried it, but I did wax this weekend with the new Turtle Wax Platinum line and I love it. Now just to see how long it lasts.

Any of you guys ever use Zaino? I've used it in the past on previous cars with excellent results but haven't used it on the X yet..

Zaino sucks (in my opinion) [ThumbsDown]

I agree with Cygnus-X1, Zaino sucks! [ThumbsDown]

I use Meguiars exclusively and have done so for years. I have tried others, but found that I prefer the results of Meguiars.

This is my own opinion. Find a wax you like and stick to it. It makes waxing easier, when you are only using one kind.

I use Meguiars also and in experience its the best. used the 3 step process this past weekend and used 2 coats of new NXT tech wax as the 3rd step. never had my X looking so deep and shiny. washed it yesterday and the water just rolled off...best wax ive ever used, would highly recommend it [ThumbsUp]

Re: found the best wax - 27/05/04 10:12 AM

Hatrik3, Try putting Meguiars Gold Class over the NXT. Try this on a small section, it looks GREAT as well and the Gold Class is longer lasting. Something I tried a month ago.

I've been wanting to try the Nano wax but haven't found it in Hawaii yet. Things usually take a little longer here. I've always used either Race Glaze, Meguiars, or Eagle 1 Wet. Hopefully the Nano stuff will work better that the Wet. Always hated the residue left behind. Is it easy to work with?
Thanks for the info

Yet another thumbs up for Meguiars... [ThumbsUp]

Re: found the best wax - 27/05/04 01:26 PM

Nano wax was a breeze with the fiber cloth that you get with it. It actually buffed the wax right off without too much effort. I was always partial to Eagle One but like you said the residue was a pain. With the nano wax, no residue, none zero. Best stuff.

As for Meguire's. Yes it was good and easy, but it did not last worth a $hit. One or two good rains and it was gone. Just try the nano wax and you will change!

Re: found the best wax - 27/05/04 02:27 PM

Zaino does not suck - most people don't bother to do all the steps necessary to get a truely fantastic shine out of it. If you aren't going to do all the steps, and do them correctly then you are better off not waisting your money.

My father Zainoed his Miata - and one best of show at the last national convention. It looks stunning. Took him a week of nights to get the base on, and then he applies more and more of their gloss enhancer or whatever the last step is on a continual basis. And the Miata is garage kept - so it should look awesome.

Hence my comment about the size of the Xterra - I'm not about to do that to the X! Miata, sure - it's easily 1/3 the size if not smaller.

For the X, I use Meguiars. I use the yellow paste wax. Carnuba - still hard to beat. Goes on easy, buff it off and you get a killer shine. Lasts a lot longer here on the east coast than in Nevada - I'd have to do it every other week in the heat of the summer there - can go months here easy. I'm more than happy with it...

Nu-Finish does great and will not leave nasty white residue on plactic body parts. The BMW shop in town uses it in a white label bottle to not get over on customers.

Allamricn,
What do you use on your tires? Does it splatter? Still looking for something professional that doesn't sling after I'm done detailing!

Re: found the best wax - 14/06/04 05:07 PM

Meguiar's Endurance High Gloss- the liquid, not the can or spray.

The key? Apply it with a paint brush!

After letting it sit for a while, go over it again with the brush to spread any remaining gel.

Re: found the best wax - 14/06/04 11:35 PM

The Endurance tire dressing is great stuff. I use it also. I wax my X with Collinite topped off with NXT.

Great Shine though Art Cat!

I think that is about the shiniest X I have ever seen.

Re: found the best wax - 16/06/04 11:12 PM

Allamricn,

Photograph your X late in the evening when the sun is setting and I think you will achieve the results you are looking for. Harsh sunlight will kill the highlights of any color. Not just Silver.

I'm a zymol dude, too. However...I just have the Autozone bought stuff. I've always been tempted to go through zymol direct to get the hardcore stuff. Which zymol do you use?

Wow. I want mine to look shiny like that.

It's white though...doesn't get really shiny, does it?

That's what I used to think too, but yes, white can look very glossy. I used a clay bar on my white '02 for the first time earlier this year, then waxed with Meguiar's. It looked great.
