lonely connection? - 17/12/01 06:42 PM

wow..this forum seems pretty lonely,,,mabye everyone can come here and talk about ian.

no seriously. i found an electrical connection while poking around under the hood and don't know what it's for.

it's located in front of the radiator, behind the grill, near the horn.

small, square, 3 wires, all tied up nice and neat.

any ideas?

i have the same thing on my X, but don't know what those wires are for.

my best guess would be the wiring for an engine block heater.

I also never heard anyone talk about it!

What engine do you have? the ESM has a couple listed in harness layout

V-6
E3 Triple Pressure Switch
E4 Horn
E68 Ambient Air Temp switch
E69 cooling fan motor

I-4
E3 Dual Pressure Switch
E4 Horn

I don't see anything else. Are you sure everything is plugged in and working?

Go to General Discusion, the thread about the block heater is there. Now I know it is for the engine block heater.

i think my X is gonna get plugged in this winter.

the truck is a 2001 se v6.

everything works, that i know of,horn, lights, etc.

as far as block heater, i don't think the wire is heavy enough for that. they appear to be 18ga.

also it's a connector, not a plug, i.e. household type..

it's not dangling loose and has a factory wire tie on it holding it in place...
